At Raana Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. (RSPL), we are building India's most strategically critical indigenous product the Czochralski (CZ) Crystal Growth System. Our precision engineered systems grow high-purity single crystals of Silicon, Germanium, Nd:YAG, and Lithium Niobate, powering India's semiconductor fabs, defence laser platforms, and atomic energy programmes.
We are expanding our core engineering team and looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will work directly on the CZ system designing, developing, and refining precision sub-systems that operate at tolerances measured in microns and temperatures exceeding 1400°C
What you'll do
- Design and develop precision mechanical sub-assemblies for the CZ system crucible holders, seed chuck mechanisms, pull-rod assemblies, heat shields, and chamber enclosures using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D engineering drawings with GD&T, BOMs, and revision-controlled documentation for in-house manufacturing and vendor supply.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and DFM reviews to ensure precision fit-and-function at operating conditions.
- Support procurement, incoming inspection, and acceptance testing of machined components and fabricated assemblies.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation design rationale, FMEA records, assembly instructions, and inspection reports.
- Liaise with external vendors, casting houses, and machining partners to ensure drawing compliance and on-time delivery.
What we're looking for
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in mechanical design precision equipment, semiconductor tools, defence systems, or capital equipment preferred.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling) and AutoCAD (2D drafting).
- Working knowledge of engineering measurement instruments micrometers, CMM, dial gauges.
- Ability to read and prepare detailed engineering drawings with standard tolerancing and GD&T callouts.
- Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.
Good to have
- Exposure to high-temperature furnace or vacuum chamber design.
- Knowledge of materials used in crystal growth quartz, graphite,molybdenum, tungsten.
- Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS or equivalent) for structural and thermal analysis.
- Prior exposure to semiconductor capital equipment, defence R&D, or atomic energy sector.
Skills
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modelling, 2D drafting, and assembly design, with hands-on knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
