Design Engineer – Mechanical (Rolling Mill & Steel Processing Equipment)

3–4 years of relevant experience in industrial machinery or heavy equipment design

Role Summary
The role involves detailed mechanical design and development of rolling mill machinery and strip processing equipment including slitting lines, cut-to-length lines, coil handling equipment and auxiliary machinery.
The candidate must understand machine functionality, manufacturability and fabrication feasibility. The position requires active coordination with production and fabrication teams.
Mandatory Software Skills (Hands-On Experience Required)
· Autodesk Inventor – 3D modelling and assemblies
· AutoCAD – manufacturing and fabrication drawings
· Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation
Preferred Software Exposure
· SolidWorks
· Engineering calculations and tolerance analysis
Mandatory Domain Knowledge
· Rolling mill equipment
· Steel coil/strip processing systems
· Fabrication structures and heavy assemblies
· Gearboxes, shafts, bearings and rollers
· Plate and sheet metal fabrication drawings
· Machine assembly understanding
Detailed Responsibilities
· 3D modelling of machine components and assemblies
· Preparation of detailed fabrication drawings
· Preparation of assembly and general arrangement drawings
· Creation and verification of bill of materials
· Coordination with fabrication and shop floor teams
· Supporting production during manufacturing
· Design corrections based on shop feedback
· Providing technical clarification to purchase department
· Supporting machine trials and inspection
· Understanding machine working and suggesting improvements
Education
B.Tech / Diploma – Mechanical Engineering
