ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our R&D and New Product Development team. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of the mechanical design lifecycle — from concept to production-ready hardware — for Jarsh’s next generation of smart safety devices.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in plastics engineering, material selection, electroplating, and DFM/DFMA principles, and is genuinely excited about designing products worn and used by field workers in demanding industrial environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Develop and refine product designs, assessing materials and manufacturing requirements to optimize production costs and ensure functionality.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, sales) to validate design concepts against usability, DFM, and DFMA standards, and present prototypes for stakeholder approval.
– Generate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings, including Bill of Materials, ensuring compliance with GD&T standards and practical design implementation.
– Coordinate with design, manufacturing, integration, and quality teams, supporting product sourcing, purchasing, and selection throughout the design process.
– Provide engineering support for product development, process improvements, and day-to-day operations, including testing and validating system and product capabilities.
– Maintain ownership and configuration control of models and drawings, identifying and resolving design issues to achieve successful industrialization.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
CAD & Design
– Strong knowledge of CAD modelling, machine design, and design analysis.
– Proficiency with CATIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D CAD tools.
– Strong command of GD&T — generating and reviewing manufacturable drawings to ASME Y14.5 / ISO standards.
– Experience with manufacturing processes including assembly fits and tolerances; CAM experience is a plus.
Plastics Engineering & Material Selection
– In-depth knowledge of engineering polymers — ABS, PC, PA, PP, TPU, POM — and selection based on mechanical properties, temperature range, chemical resistance, and cost targets.
– Hands-on experience with plastic part design guidelines: draft angles, ribs, bosses, snap fits, and wall thickness optimization for injection moulding.
– DFM and DFMA review experience across injection moulding, blow moulding, and thermoforming processes.
Electroplating & Surface Finishing
– Knowledge of electroplating processes on plastic substrates (ABS/PC with copper-nickel-chrome or custom finishes) for aesthetics, conductivity, and corrosion protection.
– Familiarity with surface treatment options: anodizing, powder coating, painting, and chemical etching for plastic and metal parts.
New Product Development
– Experience driving full NPD cycles — ideation, concept, DFM review, prototype, validation, and production release.
– Ability to perform engineering calculations for stress, fatigue, thermal expansion, and weight optimization.
– Sound understanding of manufacturing processes — injection moulding, turning, milling, welding, sheet metal, and die casting.
QUALIFICATIONS & JOB DETAILS
– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) from a recognized university.
– 2+ years of relevant experience in mechanical or product design (preferred).
– Strong portfolio of designed components or products — CAD models, drawings, or physical prototypes preferred.
– Joining: Immediate or short notice preferred.
– Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.
– Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India (On-Site).
