We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 7–10 years of experience to design and develop mechanical housings, plumbing assemblies, and electro-mechanical products for Fire Safety & Industrial equipment.
This role focuses on product design and development across sheet metal, plastics, die-cast, machined, and stamped components, while supporting documentation, tooling, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing readiness. The engineer will own overall design and implementation, prototype development, support hardware integration, and contribute to system validation and regulatory compliance in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Product Design & Development
• Design and develop mechanical housings, plumbing systems, and electro-mechanical assemblies from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed 2D drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and product documentation through the full development life cycle.
• Identify cost-down opportunities and create new designs with lower/optimized cost, maintaining same form, fit and functionality.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, compliance, product management, operations, and other cross-functional teams throughout product development and release activities.
• Support the product life cycle from concept through production, sustainment, and maintenance using established ECO and change-control processes.
Component Design & Drawings
• Develop parts and assemblies using SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling and prepare manufacturing-ready 2D drawings with GD&T, views, sections, and product outline drawings.
• Support machined, plastic injection molded, die-cast, sheet metal, and stamped part design with strong focus on fit, finish, tolerance, and manufacturability.
• Perform tolerance stack-up, thermal, stress, and vibration analyses to validate designs for fit, function, reliability, and manufacturability.
Sheet Metal, Plastics & Tooling
• Lead sheet metal design/development, plastics design/development, tool/mold design/development, metal die casting design/development, and related tooling design/development.
• Develop fixtures and support prototype-to-production transitions including supplier coordination and manufacturability feedback.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes appropriate for prototype builds, design validation, and production development.
Plumbing & Electro-Mechanical Integration
• Design plumbing paths, brackets, mounting features, and enclosure interfaces for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
• Support basic electrical wiring integration, cable routing, connector access, serviceability, and packaging of electromechanical assemblies.
CAD / BIM / Legacy Drawing Support
• Use SolidWorks Sheetmetal, SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks PCB Connector, and SolidWorks Animation as needed for design communication and release control.
• Maintain or convert designs in Creo 3D CAD and perform minor updates to legacy AutoCAD or DraftSight 2D drawings.
• Create Autodesk Revit families for BIM deliverables where product integration into building models is required.
Prototyping, Testing & Manufacturing Support
• Support prototyping using 3D printers and machine shop resources such as CNC, drill press, and sheet metal forming/stamping equipment.
• Plan and support product validation using test equipment such as environmental chambers and other mechanical reliability or fit-check setups.
• Work with manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams to resolve design issues, support first builds, and drive continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues across all phases of new product development, from prototype through production release.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering specifications, validation summaries, and supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
• Experience: 7–10 years in mechanical design and development for housings, plumbing assemblies, or electro-mechanical products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling & 2D drawings; working knowledge of SolidWorks Sheetmetal, SolidWorks PDM, and related product release workflows.
• Hands-on experience in machined, injection molded, die-cast, and stamped components, along with sheet metal, plastics, fixturing, and tooling development.
• Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical system behaviour.
• Working knowledge of Creo, basic AutoCAD or DraftSight editing, and Autodesk Revit family creation for BIM is preferred.
• Practical understanding of DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up, prototype development, testing, and collaboration with fabrication or machine shop teams.
• Practical understanding of DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up, materials selection, prototype development, testing, and design validation including thermal, stress, and vibration considerations.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing layouts and electrical wiring integration in electro-mechanical products is required.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
