We are looking for a passionate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our R&D team and contribute to the development of world-class mobility products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative wheelchair and mobility products from concept to production.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
- Design sheet metal, tubular structures, machined components, and plastic parts.
- Develop mechanisms including:
- Lifting systems
- Reclining mechanisms
- Folding mechanisms
- Suspension systems
- Power transmission systems
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change notes (ECNs), and design documentation.
- Coordinate with fabrication, machining, procurement, and production teams.
- Participate in prototype development and testing.
- Improve existing products through value engineering and cost optimization.
- Support certification activities (ISO 13485, IEC 60601, CE/MDR where applicable).
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement design improvements.
- Work closely with electronics, embedded systems, and industrial design teams.
Required SkillsMechanical Design
- Strong knowledge of machine design principles.
- Structural design using steel, aluminium, and sheet metal.
- Weldment design.
- Bearing and shaft selection.
- Fastener selection.
- Linear actuators and lifting mechanisms.
- Pneumatic and electromechanical systems.
- Ergonomics and human-centered design.
CAD Software
Experience in one or more:
- SolidWorks (Preferred)
- Autodesk Fusion 360
- Autodesk Inventor
- Creo
- CATIA
Manufacturing Knowledge
Experience with:
- Laser cutting
- CNC machining
- Tube bending
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Welding
- Powder coating
- Injection molding
- 3D Printing
- Assembly processes
Analysis
Knowledge of:
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Motion Simulation
- Load calculations
- Fatigue analysis
- Design validation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in product design (Freshers with exceptional project work may also apply).
- Experience in medical devices, automotive, robotics, or mobility products is an added advantage.
