Job details:
Mechanical Design Engineer – Battery Swapping Systems
Sector 85, Gurgaon | Blinq Mobility
Company Description
We are engineering the swap infrastructure that will power India's EV transition. We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who can take ownership of hardware from first sketch through production, not just hand off a spec and move on. If you've fought a tolerance stack-up until the numbers finally closed, or pulled an all-nighter before Formula Student scrutineering, you already think the way this role demands.
What You'll Do
- Own the full mechanical design lifecycle for battery-swapping systems on existing vehicles: concept, prototyping, validation, and production
- Create 3D CAD (SolidWorks/CATIA/NX), GD&T, and manufacturing documentation vendors can build from without back-and-forth
- Design mechanisms, structural components, fixtures, and assemblies engineered for reliability, durability, and manufacturability under real-world duty cycles
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design validation
- Build prototypes, run bench and field testing, and feed learnings directly into the next design iteration
- Work in tight integration with electrical and embedded teams; this is a mechatronic system, not a standalone bracket
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing partners for fabrication, tooling, and production ramp
- Drive DFM/DFA and cost optimization as a default lens, not an afterthought
Qualifications
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 0–3 years designing mechanical products with moving mechanisms and structural assemblies
- Strong hands-on CAD proficiency, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX
- Working knowledge of sheet metal, machining, welding, and fabrication processes, and how design choices affect them
- Real prototyping/fabrication/validation experience, hands-on, not just simulation-only
- Formula Student or similar collegiate motorsport experience is a strong plus
- Startup mindset: high ownership, fast iteration, comfortable with ambiguity
If you want your CAD models rolling out on real roads within months, not years, let's talk.
