Job Title: Industrial Automation Mechanical Designer

Qualifications: Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Production Engineering, Relevant academic or internship projects in automation preferred
Job Description:
An Industrial Automation Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of special purpose machines (SPMs), robotic cells, and factory automation equipment. The candidate will be responsible for creating mechanical concepts, detailed manufacturing drawings, and supporting assembly and commissioning activities.
This role is ideal for candidates interested in hands-on automation development, robotics integration, and machine building.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design
- Develop 2D & 3D designs for industrial automation systems and SPMs
- Design fixtures, jigs, conveyors, structural frames, and machine modules
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings with GD&T and BOM
- Perform tolerance stack-up and basic engineering calculations
Automation & Machine Development
- Support robotic integration layouts and end-of-arm tooling design
- Assist in pneumatic actuator selection and motion mechanism design
- Participate in concept development and design reviews
- Work closely with electrical and controls teams for integration
Manufacturing & Assembly Support
- Coordinate with fabrication and machining vendors
- Provide assembly guidance and resolve shop-floor issues
- Support machine testing, debugging, and improvements
- Maintain engineering documentation and revision control
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks / Autodesk Fusion 360 / Creo / CATIA
- Strong understanding of machine elements & manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of pneumatics, linear motion systems, and mechanical drives
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and machine assembly layouts
- Basic knowledge of industrial sensors and automation components
- Good problem-solving and practical engineering mindset
Preferred Additional Skills
- Exposure to robotic automation and EOAT design
- Knowledge of sheet metal and weldment design
- Familiarity with conveyor systems and material handling equipment
- Experience in PLC-based automation environments
- Understanding of safety standards and ergonomic design
