Job Title: CAD Engineer (Sheet Metal & Structural)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
CAD Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing robust sheet metal and structural components, with a particular focus on enclosure systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Creo and Windchill, a strong understanding of manufacturing tolerances, and the ability to collaborate across teams to bring high-quality mechanical designs from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Design: Develop complex 3D models and detailed 2D production drawings for sheet metal and structural components.
- Enclosure Development: Support the design and optimization of structural chassis, with a preference for energy storage systems and enclosures.
- Precision Engineering: Apply Advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and perform rigorous tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure seamless assembly and manufacturing alignment.
- Design Validation: Utilize a basic understanding of structural and thermal simulation data to iterate and improve designs before prototyping.
- Lifecycle Management: Manage CAD data, revisions, and BOMs within Windchill, and actively participate in the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Proven track record in sheet metal fabrication design and structural frame design.
- CAD/PLM Proficiency: Advanced, hands-on experience using PTC Creo for modeling and Windchill for product lifecycle management.
- Technical Expertise: Strong command of GD&T principles and manual tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Process Knowledge: Experience working within an structured Engineering Change Management (ECM)
- Simulation: Basic familiarity with FEA/CFD principles (structural/thermal) to interface effectively with simulation teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience designing Energy Storage System (ESS) chassis, battery enclosures, or similar heavy-duty structural packaging.
