Role Description The Mecendizer for fabrics will manage end-to-end merchandising activities, acting as a key link between the production, design, and sales teams to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with buyers on fabric requirements, sampling and approvals, preparing costings and quotations, and tracking orders from development through bulk production. The role also involves maintaining product and client databases, monitoring production timelines, ensuring quality standards are met, and supporting the development of new fabric designs based on market trends and customer feedback. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Coimbatore, requiring regular interaction with the factory floor and internal stakeholders to deliver consistent service and on-time delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of textile merchandising, including fabric types (cotton, viscose, blends), Jacquard constructions, and basic weaving processes.
- Experience in order management and coordination, including sampling, approvals, production follow-up, and delivery scheduling.
- Ability to work closely with design, production, and quality teams to translate buyer requirements into executable fabric programs.
- Competence in maintaining records, preparing cost sheets, quotations, and basic reports using standard office software tools.
- Good communication and negotiation skills for interacting with buyers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple orders and timelines.
- Prior experience as a merchandiser or mecendizer in textiles or apparel manufacturing is preferred.
- Diploma or degree in Textile Technology, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field is an advantage.
- Familiarity with sustainability and certification standards (such as GOTS or Better Cotton) will be beneficial.
