Mathematics Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training
About The Role
What if your deep knowledge of mathematics could directly shape how AI reasons through the world's most complex problems? We're looking for Mathematics Researchers to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models — designing rigorous problems, stress-testing mathematical reasoning, and ensuring AI gets the hard stuff right.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for people who think precisely, love a good problem, and want their expertise to have real-world impact at scale.

What You'll Do
- Develop, solve, and critically review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance
- Apply your expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas to design complex, meaningful problem statements
- Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning for correctness, rigor, and depth
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to push the boundaries of AI's mathematical capabilities
- Ensure mathematical clarity and precision across all deliverables
- Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
- Strong expertise in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
- Comfortable coding in Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or problem-solving
- Exceptionally detail-oriented with a rigorous, methodical approach to mathematical work
- Clear and precise written communicator — you can explain complex ideas without losing accuracy
- Currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality, or AI evaluation workflows
- Background in academic research, mathematical writing, or curriculum development
- Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts
- Experience reviewing or grading advanced mathematical work
