Note from the Founders on the role

Hi, I'm Sarthak, Co-founder of Material Depot. I'm excited to find someone who would be a part of our tech team and work very closely with the founders, product team and tech team. The role will have 100% ownership of the problem statements you tackle. Excited to speak with people interested in seeking a long term view to solving an extremely challenging problem is a super large industry.

Interview process

What you will do:

• Microservices: Experienced in microservices-based architecture, can work on cloud infrastructures like Azure, AWS etc. ensuring cost-effective resource utilization
• Architecture: Design and implement modular, scalable application architectures that meet business and design needs, while continuously optimizing and refactoring code for improved performance and maintainability.
• Production and Deployment: Oversee CI/CD pipelines, deployment, monitoring, and scaling of services in production environments, and handle server setup, configuration, and maintenance to ensure smooth and reliable operations.
• Development Quality and Ownership: Uphold high standards in problem solving, design, development, and bug resolution taking full ownership of product features. 
• Team Management & mentorship: Mentor team members, collaborate with stakeholders, and work within an Agile framework to deliver high-quality, maintainable software solutions.

You’re a good fit for this only if...

• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Minimum 5 years of prior hands-on technical work experience with a focus on Python, Django and relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
• Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure management.
• Worked in start-up like environment with high levels of ownership and commitment
• Passion for tackling complex and challenging problems
• Proficient in high-level design, implementation, and understanding design patterns
• Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and adopt technologies that support the development of large-scale, high-performance, reliable, and sustainable systems.
• You’re open to being a generalist and adapting to the uncertainty of early-stage startups. Strong ability to deal with ambiguity and problem-solve for aspects that you or the team may encounter the first time or are not familiar with.
• You bring your own unique skill set to the table and collaborate with others to accomplish your team’s goals with a firm focus on targets and deadlines
• You experiment, test, try, fail, and learn continuously.
• You are not coming here for “strategy” roles but for on-ground hands-on work
