John Sevier Elementary is seeking a K-3 teaching candidate.
This is a full-time position with benefits for the 2026-2027 school year. We are seeking multiple positons.
Certification: Current K-6 Tennessee Department of Education certification with proof of highly qualified status and related work experience.
Expectations: Willingness to participate in a multi-step interview process.
Qualities of a Desired Candidate Include:
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Desire to build positive relationships with students and their families
- Complete understanding of K-3 State of Tennessee Curriculum
- Comfortable in using data resources such as iReady, Aimsweb, Scholastic, STAR Reading, etc. and the ability to share results with appropriate stakeholders
- Ability to use data to drive instruction
- Possess confidence in integrating technology into instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with all stakeholders
- Understanding of student learning styles, age-appropriate instructional strategies, and educational best practices
- A strong desire to build meaningful relationships with students and their families, promoting a sense of belonging.
- Desire to organize, participate and attend after-school and evening programs such as performances, parent meetings, and other school events
- Approach to using both formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction
- Exemplify honesty, integrity, loyalty, humor, and professionalism in all interactions.
Physical Requirements:
- All applicants must be able to perform any physical duties associated with this position (e.g., lifting 50 pounds regularly, sitting for extended periods, walking, seeing, standing for extended periods, etc.).
