Bus Driver
2025-26 School Year
4.5 Hours Per Day, 5 Days Per Week
Split Shift 2.25 hrs. AM/2.25 hrs. PM
The position is open until filled.
SALARY: $26.46 - $30.27 hour per PSE Collective Bargaining Agreement
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operate assigned school van/bus in a safe and legal manner consistent with district, state, county and federal regulations
- Read, understand and follow all motor vehicles laws of the State of Washington, all regulations and Washington State Laws for School Bus Drivers and the State of Washington School Bus Driver Handbook.
- Inspect the assigned school van/bus daily prior to each operation in accordance with state and district regulations and expectations
- Report any mechanical defects and safety hazards immediately
- Transport passengers to and from school or other school-related activities
- Maintain discipline on the bus consistent with district policies, regulations and procedures
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, district staff, parents and community members
- Conduct post-trip inspection: verify that all passengers have departed, close windows and refuel school bus
- Maintain and submit daily bus logs; maintain, complete and submit all forms, records, and other reports as required
- Clean interior and exterior of vehicle according to department procedures and perform other such maintenance requirements as department procedure requires
- Assist passengers in exiting school bus through appropriate emergency exits during drills and in case of emergency
- Operate and maintain district vehicles and equipment as required; consequently, insuring their safe and proper use, protecting the interest of the district regarding pilferage, loss, theft or abuse of all district vehicles, equipment and materials
- Obtain and maintain all licenses and certificates necessary to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities
- Comply with district safety rules and regulations
- This position is not limited to a single route; drivers may be assigned to cover any route as needed
- Drivers are offered additional extracurricular transportation trips
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 21 (twenty-one) years of age
· Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license
· Meet the physical and mental standards necessary to perform duties
· Minimum of 5 (five) years driving experience
· Maintain valid CPR/First Aid card
· WA State Background and fingerprints
· Pre-employment and random Drug and Alcohol test
· Current CDL, Class B with School bus and passenger endorsement
