Mary Lee Foundation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team as a PRN Independent Contractor. This is an opportunity to provide meaningful, person-centered care while helping shape and expand occupational therapy services within a well-established nonprofit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
This role is ideal for a clinician seeking flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to build a caseload over time within a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist will provide evaluation, re-evaluation, and treatment services for adults with IDD, supporting independence, functional skills, and overall quality of life. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with an interdisciplinary team while maintaining independence as a contractor.
Schedule & Engagement
- PRN Independent Contractor role
- Services provided on an as-needed basis
- Flexible scheduling based on clinician availability and program needs
- Volume of hours will vary depending on referrals and caseload development
- Opportunity to expand hours over time as services grow
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess functional abilities, sensory needs, and adaptive skills
- Develop and implement individualized, person-centered treatment plans
- Provide direct occupational therapy services focused on:
- Fine motor development
- Sensory integration
- Activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Adaptive and functional life skills
- Collaborate with case managers, direct support staff, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in team meetings to review progress and adjust goals
- Train and support staff to ensure carryover of therapeutic strategies into daily routines
- Maintain timely and compliant documentation in accordance with state, federal, and professional standards
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current Texas Occupational Therapy license in good standing
- 1–2+ years of experience preferred, ideally working with adults with IDD
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based environment
- Commitment to person-centered, dignity-driven care
