Description
This position is responsible for communicating standards of excellence in the daily work assignments of assigned team in order to meet safe production as outlined by Management. The Leadperson will communicate standards through stated goals, daily interactions, team meetings, providing input on employee performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary actions. This position requires travel from the quarry to other locations.
Responsibilities
Performs standard office duties, plant duties, equipment repairs and operates mobile equipment
Establishes and maintains effective communications within all areas of operation
Performs regular inspections for safety, housekeeping and mechanical issues in all areas of the operation
Implements and applies all safety rules, regulations and procedures of mine and property as set forth by federal, state, and local agencies and policies, as well as company guidelines and safety standards
Works closely with the Sr. Team Coordinator and Production Supervisor to insure implementation of scheduled maintenance on all equipment
Completes annual performance evaluations on team members
Participates on plant safety committee
Works with the Plant Manager, Production Supervisor, and Sr. Team Coordinator in developing mining plans, profit plans, AFE'S, and monthly forecast
Completes daily production, safety and maintenance reports accurately
Maintains plant housekeeping and appearance standards and product quality as established
Aides in the training of co-workers as needed
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated
Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives
Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
Willing to cross-train in different areas of production
Minimum Education and Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
Three (3) years of experience in in the building materials, mining or aggregates industry
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
Possess effective coordination and communication skills
Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills
Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision
Able to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditions
Able to read and interpret gauges/dials and make competent decisions related to processing equipment
Working knowledge of team-based management
Possess basic computer skills & able to learn new software
Able to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations
Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production
We are excited to share the base salary rate for this position is $48.74 an hour. Conditions and terms of employment and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 49
