YOUR ROLE
This role sits at the intersection of communications, culture, and community. As Marketing Manager – PR & Communications, you will be responsible for how Nicobar shows up beyond its own channels — through the media that writes about us, the brands we choose to partner with, and the experiences we design for our customers and press. You will work closely with the Senior Brand Manager to own and execute Nicobar's earned media strategy, while also leading a curated events programme and select brand collaborations that extend our cultural presence. This is a role for someone who understands what earned presence looks like — in media, in a partnership, and in a room full of people who matter to the brand. You will hold the balance between cultural presence and commercial impact.
WHO ARE YOU
You have strong relationships and you know how to use them well. You understand what earned presence looks like — in media, in partnerships, and in a room full of people who matter to the brand. You've worked across PR, collaborations, or events and know how to move between them without losing the thread. You are rigorous about follow-through and creative about approach. You bring things to life and see them through.
YOU HAVE:
4–6 years of PR experience, ideally with a mix of agency and in-house stints • Strong existing relationships across fashion, lifestyle, and culture media • A genuine feel for the Nicobar brand — considered, design-led, rooted in Modern India • Excellent written communication; you can draft a pitch that gets opened • Comfort working in a lean team where you're expected to execute, not just strategies
KRAs PR & Earned Media
This is the primary mandate of the role. You will be responsible for building and protecting Nicobar's presence in the publications and conversations that matter to our audience.
• Own Nicobar's PR strategy across fashion, lifestyle, interiors, design, and culture verticals
• Build and manage relationships with journalists, editors, and stylists across print, digital, and broadcast
• Drive proactive story angles product launches, brand moments, founder stories, retail expansions, and category plays
• Secure consistent, quality placements in top-tier national and relevant niche publications
• Lead press interactions: media kits, look books, sample coordination, and press previews
• Manage the PR agency — own monthly performance reviews tracking coverage quality, share of voice, and sentiment
• Identify parallel and new media formats to build the brand with new audiences
Events
Our islands what we call our stores are designed to hold more than product. They are spaces to experience a modern Indian way of living. Our events are an extension of that intention.
• Conceptualise and execute events across the store network: new island launches, seasonal activations, press previews, and community gatherings
• Own the annual events calendar in alignment with the retail and brand calendar
• Ensure every event reflects the Nicobar world the aesthetic, the energy, the level of care
• Manage budgets, vendors, and logistics end-to-end without losing sight of the brand experience
• Coordinate with the retail and CRM teams to drive footfall, engagement, and community outcomes from each event
Brand Collaborations
Collaborations are an extension of our PR and storytelling lens not a standalone mandate. When the right partner presents itself, you will be expected to assess the fit, build the case, and support execution.
• Identify and evaluate potential collaboration partners brands, designers, artists, cultural institutions — aligned with Nicobar's values and aesthetic
• Build and pitch the internal case for each collaboration: rationale, audience fit, expected brand and commercial impact
• Lead end-to-end execution in coordination with the Senior Brand Manager and relevant business stakeholders
• Amplify each collaboration across PR, social, and digital channels.
WHERE YOU WILL COLLABORATE & PARTNER
• Senior Brand Manager primary reporting line; aligns on strategy, priorities, and all major decisions
• Digital & Performance Marketing ensures PR and collaboration launches are amplified through paid and owned digital channels
• CRM & Consumer Experience coordinates on event communication and lifecycle activation
• Merchandising works closely on collaboration product timelines and sell-through targets
• Retail partners on island event planning and in-store activation
• Visual Design & Photography ensures all PR assets, collaboration creative, and event collateral are on-brand
KPIs PR & Earned Media
• Tier-1 earned media placements per quarter quality-tiered, not volume-driven
• Share of voice and sentiment tracking across key publications
• New media formats explored and activated per year Events
• Number of events executed per quarter, assessed against defined brand experience benchmarks
• Press and media attendance and coverage generated from press events and previews
• Event-driven footfall lift on activation days, particularly for new island launches
• Customer engagement from event-linked CRM communication open rates and attendance conversion Brand Collaborations
• Number of collaborations locked and executed per year target set annually
• Reach and awareness per collaboration, measured by combined media value across PR and social amplification
• Sell-through rate of collaboration inventory within the defined launch window
• Brand alignment score — qualitative assessment of partner fit and audience response WHAT
