About the role
Purpose: To sort, price, and organize clothing, bric-a-brac, shoes, accessories, and linens for display and sale during peak seasonal operations, ensuring that each donated item is processed with care and integrity in support of Market Street Mission’s ministry of transforming lives through faith and service.
Description: The Seasonal Sorter at the Market Street Mission Thrift Store will serve as a temporary part-time member of the retail team, helping to ensure donated goods are processed with care, organization, and efficiency. Through quality control, thoughtful presentation, and Christ-like professionalism, the Seasonal Sorter will support the daily operations of the store while reflecting the Mission’s commitment to stewardship, compassion, and service. The work of the Seasonal Sorter will help create a welcoming shopping experience, encourage generosity, and support the Mission’s outreach within the community.
Responsibilities:
• Perform quality control and inspection of donated bric-a-brac, clothing, and related items.
• Sort clothing, shoes, accessories, handbags, linens, and jewelry into appropriate categories.
• Price, hang, and distribute goods to the sales floor in an organized and timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized sorting and sales area.
• Assist with seasonal merchandise rotations, displays, and sales floor organization.
• Support store sales events and increased donation flow during peak seasons.
• Provide friendly and helpful support to customers, donors, volunteers, and staff as needed.
• Identify and appropriately handle higher-value or specialty items.
• Demonstrate Christ-like integrity, respect, and service in all interactions with customers, donors, staff, and volunteers.
