About the role

Mark Thomas is hiring a Senior Construction Inspector for Construction Management team! Senior Inspector works under the supervision of the Resident Engineer (RE), or a Construction Management (CM) Project Manager. The Senior Inspector uses his/her relevant work experience and judgment to evaluate project construction in compliance with the project plans and specifications. The Sr. Inspector may be an authorized representative of the RE or CM project manager. In addition, the Senior Inspector may also represent the designated client contact. In both or either case, the Sr. Inspector will exercise authority on a project-by-project basis to the extent delegated or assigned. The Senior Inspector has full authority in matters of safety related to imminent hazard or danger on a project.

The Senior Inspector is responsible to assist in various field and office construction engineering work, including, but not limited to, inspection of non-structural and structural construction operations, inspection of traffic control system compliance, CPM scheduling analysis, and other areas as assigned. Other areas may include but are not necessarily limited to electrical & instrumentation work, plumbing and piping, power and controls, drainage systems, landscaping, and grading.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Reads and interprets project plans, specifications, permits, and other pertinent contract documents and exercise sound engineering and construction judgement
•    Documents and informs appropriate representative of relevant observations, including the progress of the work, problems that develop and works proactively in identifying potential problems/issues
•    Prepares and submits safety meeting documentation as assigned in a timely manner
•    As directed, prepares clear and accurate reports, diaries and photographs recording daily construction progress
•    Measures, calculates, and documents quantities of construction materials in accordance with designated procedures, formats, and computer programs
•    Verifies contractor's work and materials conforms to contractual requirements
•    Updates As-Built drawings
•    Provides support to construction project team for change order preparation and monitoring
•    Coordinates surveys, material testing, and sampling as required

QUALIFICATIONS
•    Meets/exceeds competencies of an Inspector
•    Holds a Highschool diploma/GED or equivalent
•    A two-year Associates degree in a relevant area is a plus
•    5+ years progressively responsible experience in construction inspection, or 7-10+ years of general construction experience
•    Demonstrates depth & knowledge in construction management applications
•    Possession of a valid driver’s license
•    Willingness to travel
•    Knowledge and experience in specific work trades such as electrical, plumbing and piping, instrumentation and controls as required per project needs
•    Proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project
•    Competent verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
