Job Title: Marine Manager
Location: Andheri East, Mumbai
Reporting To: Head – Technical/HSEQ

Job Summary:
To ensure safe, compliant, and efficient marine operations of the fleet by overseeing navigation standards, vessel performance, crew competency, and adherence to international regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marine Operations Oversight
- Monitor day-to-day vessel operations (navigation, cargo handling, voyage execution)
- Provide guidance to master’s on marine-related matters
- Ensure optimal voyage planning and safe navigation practices
- Review passage plans and critical operations when required
2. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with International Maritime Organization regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, etc.)
- Implement and maintain Safety Management System (SMS)
- Ensure compliance with International Safety Management Code (ISM Code)
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
3. Audits & Inspections
- Plan and conduct internal audits and vessel inspections
- Prepare vessels for:
- Flag State inspections
- Port State Control (PSC)
- Vetting inspections (for tankers)
- Close audit findings and track corrective actions
4. Crew Management (Marine Aspect)
- Assess and monitor competency of Masters and deck officers
- Participate in recruitment, training, and promotion decisions
- Conduct pre-joining briefings and performance evaluations
- Identify training needs (bridge procedures, navigation, safety)
5. Incident & Emergency Response
- Act as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) backup if required
- Support vessels during emergencies (collision, grounding, pollution)
- Ensure timely reporting and investigation of marine incidents
6. Performance Monitoring
- Monitor KPIs such as:
- Navigational incidents / near misses
- PSC deficiencies
- Vetting performance
- Off hire due to marine issues
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain marine procedures, manuals, and circulars
- Ensure accurate reporting of incidents and compliance records
- Provide regular updates to management on fleet performance
8. Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with:
- Charterers and commercial team
- Technical department
- Classification societies (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV)
- Flag administrations and port authorities
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate of Competency – Master (Foreign Going).
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in a Marine Superintendent role in a ship management or maritime organization.
- Understanding of ISM/ISPS/MLC codes, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Experience in auditing, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with QHSE software/tools.
