The Forklift Driver - Production sets up the production line by bringing all the materials needed for that specific run, as well as, putting away all finished goods in the warehouse. This includes documenting and scanning all materials, ingredients, apples used. Ultimately responsible for operating several different types and brands of forklifts in a safe manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts to store/retrieve all materials related to production activities.
- Accurately and legibly complete paperwork necessary to complete duties.
- Use Barcode Scanning Equipment to document all material movements in and out of the production areas.
- Ensure that all products being put away are properly labeled, are in good condition, and are the correct product for the specified storage location
- Document all safety, quality, and production information as required and adhere to all safety, quality, and production rules, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with other team members on production lines, mechanics, and supervisors regarding safety, quality, and productivity issues related to driver activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area in accordance with Plant and GMP requirements.
- Perform regular safety checks of forklifts.
Section for Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:
- Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations.
- Comply with GMP’s in the plant.
- Conduct all monitoring activities to assure finished product comply with food safety and quality specifications.
- Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality system.

- Position will require overtime and weekend work, as needed, which may require you to come in early or stay late.

Education/Experience
High School Diploma, or equivalent
Skills/Knowledge
- Must have experience and demonstrate familiarity with forklift controls and the safe operation of a forklift.
- Ability to use basic math skills, add, subtract, multiply, divide and/or calculate percentages in order to complete necessary production documentation, to document materials added to or removed from the warehouses, and to count incoming and outgoing materials.
- Ability to write legibly in order to document safety, quality and production information as required or produce other documents as required.
- Able to use electronic scanners and be able to manually enter necessary production and warehousing information using a keypad.
- Able to read and write fluently in English required; Spanish language skills desirable.
- Able to handle cleaning materials as needed to maintain the cleanliness of the working environment.
- Ability to use sanitizing and cleaning chemicals properly according to safety regulations as well as to handle and properly and safely use all equipment to sanitize and clean the equipment and working area.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Supervisory Responsibility
Physical Demands
While performing the duties stated above, the employee is frequently required to walk and drive on wet floors, go up and down ramps, sit for long periods of time. The employee must have the ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must have the ability to push and pull heavy equipment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential demands of this job. Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy forklift traffic. The employee will be working around heavy equipment and must be able to wear the required PPE in conditions that may be very hot, very cold, and/or very humid. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, i.e. moving machinery. The work environment is subject to many of the above-described conditions on a day-to-day basis. It is essential to be able to perform all job functions while in the presence of these conditions.
