Job Description – Production and SCM Manager (Manufacturing – Auto Ancillary)
Department: Operations / Supply Chain Management
Location: Chakan, Pune
Reporting to: Business Head
Budget - 90,000 Per Month
Role Overview:
The person will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the manufacturing unit, ensuring smooth production, quality compliance, cost control, timely delivery, Supply Chain management and workforce management. The role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, people management skills, and experience in automotive/auto ancillary manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations & Production Management
- Plan, organize, and control all production activities to meet daily/weekly/monthly targets.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
- Drive lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives.
- Monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), reduce downtime, and improve productivity.
2. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to IATF 16949/ISO standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
- Coordinate with customers for audits, inspections, and approvals.
3. Cost & Inventory Control
- Monitor plant budgets, reduce wastage, and optimize resource usage.
- Oversee inventory management of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
4. Workforce & Team Management
- Lead and motivate a small-to-mid-sized workforce (operators, supervisors, engineers).
- Ensure statutory compliance (ESI, PF, Factory Act, etc.).
- Conduct training and skill development programs.
5. Maintenance & Safety
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance schedules are followed.
- Implement safety systems and ensure zero accidents at the workplace.
- Maintain compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
6. Customer Focus & Delivery
- Ensure on-time delivery as per customer schedules (OEM/Tier-1 suppliers).
- Work closely with the sales and planning team for production planning.
- Handle customer complaints and ensure prompt resolution.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, etc.).
- Experience in quality systems (IATF, ISO, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA).
- Good leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Hands-on problem-solving ability with focus on continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: BE/Diploma in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the auto ancillary industry.
- Exposure to managing small-scale manufacturing setups preferred.
