Role Description The Manual Designer Head of Department (HOD) is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. The person in this position will lead the manual design team, oversee the creation of detailed jewelry design sketches, and ensure that all designs align with brand standards and client requirements. Daily responsibilities include assigning and reviewing design work, guiding designers on technical and aesthetic aspects, and coordinating with production and sales teams to translate concepts into final products. The HOD will maintain design documentation, set quality benchmarks, and provide feedback and training to team members. This role also involves monitoring market trends, contributing to new collections, and participating in decision-making related to design strategy.
Qualifications
- Ability to lead and manage a team of manual jewelry designers, including mentoring, workload planning, and performance feedback.
- Strong manual sketching skills for jewelry designs, with a solid understanding of gemstones, metals, and fabrication techniques.
- Experience translating client briefs and market trends into creative, production-ready jewelry concepts.
- Attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and the ability to review and refine designs to meet brand standards.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with design, production, and sales teams on-site.
- Previous experience in a senior or supervisory design role within the jewelry or gems industry.
- Relevant education or training in jewelry design, fine arts, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Mumbai and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
