SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER
The Manson School District is in need of part-time substitute bus drivers. Becoming a substitute bus driver can be rewarding and
challenging. A willingness to work with students of all ages and positive attitude are a must.
Job Summary:
• Transport students to and from school in a safe manner.
• Handle bus and students in adverse conditions. Abide by all state and district transportation regulations.
• Requires prolonged sitting.
• Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
• Ability to relate well to students and keep order on the bus.
• Must teach safety rules, learn children’s names and work with parents and staff.
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
• Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• 21 years of age or older.
• Applicants must submit a current and Complete School Bus Driver’s driving abstract from the Washington State Department
of Licensing or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to obtain a valid medical examiner’s certificate and all other certificates, licenses, endorsements, and permits required
for this position by state and local authorities.
• Submit to Pre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT), Drug and Alcohol Test, and random drug testing.
• Current valid first- aid card, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification
required within 60 days of hire.
• Possess the skill and ability to satisfactorily perform all duties and assume all responsibilities of this position.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to pupil
transportation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
• Ability to read and interpret road and street maps.
• Ability to work harmoniously with other employees and the public.
• Previous bus driver training or experience desired.
• Cultural Competency; ability to effectively work with diverse populations
The Successful Candidate Shall:
• Transport students between bus stops and school.
• Maintain order and discipline on the bus and insures compliance with safety procedures.
• Operate various sizes of buses, ranging from 78 passenger coaches to small special education carry-all vans.
• Comply with state laws and local regulations pertaining to the operation of school buses and reporting of accidents and
incidents.
• Transport students in accordance with route and time requirements provided by management; recommend and coordinate
changes with management as necessary.
• Maintain records and submit reports as required.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post trip bus inspections, and clean buses as required. Maintain order, discipline, and proper
safety practices among students in accordance with district procedures.
• Refuel buses, install and remove chains, and perform fluid checks as necessary.
• Attend meetings and training sessions determined necessary by the District to fulfill position responsibilities.
• Complete the driver's trouble report as necessary to report bus mechanical problems, damage, and servicing requirements.
• Perform other related duties and assume other related responsibilities as assigned by the Transportation and/or Operations
Manager(s).

• Rate of Pay: $24.95 per hour.
