Description
Manitowoc County Highway Department is seeking a mechanic to perform mechanical repairs to tires, vehicles, tools and batteries on all Department equipment. This position:
- Makes major and minor mechanical repairs to a wide variety of equipment including diesel and gas powered trucks, tractors and motor graders.
- Makes major and minor mechanical repairs to tires and batteries. Makes major and minor welding repairs to a wide variety of equipment.
- Maintains records of time and materials used on each job.
- Maintains inventory of tires and tire repair supplies.
- Maintains all tools and equipment in safe proper working condition.
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent and Commercial Driver's License with endorsements A, B, C, D. N and air brakes is required. Computer skills to perform troubleshooting diagnostics on truck sand heavy equipment are also required. The following certifications are also required:
- Certification in medium/heavy duty electronic diesel engines ;
- Air conditioning certification;
- Certification as a Federal Motor Carrier brake technician with air brakes;
