Manifolds Design Responsible Engineer:
The DRE manages the design activities (calculation, design and validation) related to engine manifolds (intake and coolant), metal castings, plastic moulds and metalsheet pipes from the proto phase to the entire production lifecycle. She/He proposes innovative design solutions in relation to the achievement of product specifications and with the aim of optimizing design times, quality and costs.
Responsibilities:
▪Translating the requests of Design Project Engineer into design tasks and engineering proposals
▪Defining components technical specifications
▪Responsible of the design drawing release, ready to lead the activities on your own or with the support of other designers.
▪Interfacing with internal and external designers who work on the product
▪Collects required inputs (Load cases, 3dmodels, boundaries condition and acceptance criteria) for Predev calculation and VV analysis.
▪Performs analytical studies and tolerance stack up(s) in accordance to internal guidelines.
▪Ensuring GD&T is met
▪Development of component DFMEA
▪Guides DE on creating 3D and 2D models; Check 2d drawings and and sign title block of the drawings as checker
▪Supports Purchasing team for Tech reviews with supplier during sourcing phase and PPAP.
▪Schedules meetings for design review with selected supplier.
▪List all the analysis and tests necessary to validate the component (DVP&R).
▪Conducts internal technical activities of problem solving in case of failures in order to identify the root cause/s with methodological support of DME. Support CE area to prepare one pager.
▪Prepare CRF documentation
▪Captures all lesson learned and update best practices/Guidelines.
▪Supports other Departments (Manufacturing, Quality, Platform, Purchasing, Cost Engineering, etc) to guarantee continuous improvement and competitive products
▪The individual reports to DRE coordinator
Desired Profile:
At least 8 years of experience on the requested activities.
Master degree in Engineering: Mechanical/automotive field is preferred.
Knowledge of main materials and heat treatment/special treatment for intake and coolant manifolds, metal castings, plastic moulds and metalsheet pipes
Knowledge of main manufacturing processes for those components (from the raw material production to the super finishing process)
Knowledge of interface components (es. bolt) Bolts, gaskets, pipe connections)
Knowledge in the FEA understanding and in the solutions at main stress and stiffness issues
Knowledge of the KCDS
Experience in tolerance stackup analysis
Base experience is modelling and use of CREO
Experience as Design Engineer and Virtual Validation Engineer for engine components
Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Knowledge of problem-solving tools/methods
Basic Knowledge on components and vehicle cost evaluations, as well as effort estimation of technical modifications.
Experience with Reporting and Presentation of complex technical content to audience unfamiliar with the matter.
Interaction with people from different countries, functions and levels of responsibility is part of the daily work.
Very good communication skills and English written and spoken
