About Carenexs
Carenexs (www.carenexs.com) is a Kerala-based elderly care startup reimagining what it means to grow older with dignity, connection, and support. We are building a technology-enabled platform that integrates personalised assessment, care planning, family coordination, and access to services across health, wellbeing, social engagement, and safety.
In a state where over 60 per cent of elderly people live with chronic conditions, where 23 per cent live alone, and where an entire generation of adult children manages their parents' care from overseas, Carenexs exists to close that gap, with empathy and technology working together.
With our app developed and our assessment and care planning framework complete, we are entering our trial phase in Ernakulam and Kottayam districts to develop a service exosystem, and we are now ready to appoint the leader who will take Carenexs from an exceptional idea to a sustainable, scalable enterprise.
The Opportunity
Role - Director
Location - Cochin, Kerala with state-wide responsibility
Reports to - Board of Directors
Equity Opportunity to become an equity partner; terms discussed with the successful candidate
Phase Joining at the MVP and trial phase; leading expansion across Kerala thereafter
This is a founding leadership appointment, not a conventional executive hire. The Director will join the Board of Directors and will have the opportunity to become an equity partner in the company sharing in the long-term value that Carenexs creates, on terms agreed with the Board. We are looking for a co-owner of this mission with the skills, networks, and drive to lead it to scale.
The Role - What You Will Do
Lead the organisation. Set the strategic and cultural direction with the Board, build a high-performing team, and be the face and voice of Carenexs to clients, partners, and the community.
Drive sustainable growth. Develop and execute the business strategy across the trial, district rollout, and Kerala-wide expansion owning revenue development, budgeting, and long-term commercial viability.
Build partnerships. Establish relationships with hospitals and care providers, home nursing and rehabilitation services, pharmacies and diagnostics, corporates, community and religious institutions, Kudumbashree networks, and government bodies.
Lead operations and service delivery. Oversee the trial in Ernakulam and Kottayam, then build the quality standards, infrastructure, and systems to deliver at scale driving continuous improvement from member feedback and outcomes.
Represent Carenexs externally. Shape its public identity and contribute to thought leadership in elderly care and healthy ageing in Kerala.
What We Are Looking For
A university degree in Management, Health Management, Public Health, Social Work, or a related discipline - a postgraduate qualification is an advantage
A proven record of leadership either senior management experience in healthcare, social enterprise, elderly care, or community services, or hands-on entrepreneurial experience building an early-stage venture
A demonstrable record of building partnerships across sectors healthcare providers, government, community organisations, and commercial entities
Sound understanding of Kerala's social, cultural, and business context particularly family care, elderly wellbeing, and healthcare acces
Financial literacy: budgeting, business planning, and resource management
Deep personal alignment with our mission, an exceptional ability to build relationships, and the versatility to think strategically while working hands-on
Fluency in Malayalam is essential; proficiency in English is required
Highly advantageous: active networks with hospitals, care providers, community leaders, or government bodies in Ernakulam, Kottayam, or across Kerala.
