- Ensure supplier process controls, work instructions, travelers, control plans, and operating procedures align with NADCAP chemical processing audit criteria and customer flowdown requirements.
- Conduct on-site supplier assessments, process reviews, and gap analysis against NADCAP, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements.
- Support qualification and validation of chemical processes, including process parameter definition, bath control, testing methods, equipment readiness, and objective evidence for approval.
- Lead supplier preparation for NADCAP audits, including self-assessment, checklist review, job audit readiness, documentation completion, and closure of pre-audit gaps.
- Review manufacturing and quality records from contract review through shipping to confirm traceability and effective flowdown of customer requirements during job/compliance audits.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal findings, customer escapes, and NADCAP nonconformances, ensuring responses include root cause, correction, corrective action, product impact review where needed, and objective evidence.
- Coordinate with supplier quality, operations, laboratory, maintenance, and engineering teams to maintain process stability through equipment control, personnel qualification, and periodic monitoring.
- Monitor key process indicators such as bath chemistry control, testing compliance, rejection trends, turnaround time, rework, and audit findings to improve capability and reduce risk.
- Support AS9100-aligned quality system integration for special processes, including document control, competence, risk-based thinking, nonconformance control, change management, and continual improvement.
- Participate in first article, production approval, source approval, and customer qualification activities such as APQP where chemical processing performance affects product conformity.
- Provide technical mentoring and training to supplier personnel on special process discipline, audit expectations, and compliance culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 12+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or high-spec manufacturing with direct exposure to chemical processing or special process control.
- Strong working knowledge of NADCAP special process expectations and chemical processing audit structure, especially AC7108 and relevant supplements. Knowledge on Shot Peening, EDM and Joining Processes added advantage.
- Experience working with AS9100 quality systems and supplier quality management in regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting audits, conducting supplier assessments, or managing special process compliance programs.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, customer standards, and quality clauses for flowdown to suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience in anodizing, plating, passivation, conversion coating, chemical milling, paint, or laboratory process control.
- Experience with aerospace customer specifications and job audit traceability requirements.
- Familiarity with nonconformance management, 8D, RCCA, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and control plans in special process environments.
- Experience with multi-site supplier development or international supplier support.
- NADCAP audit preparation or direct audit participation experience at supplier sites.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of special process controls, validation, and compliance discipline.
- Supplier development and technical problem-solving capability.
- Effective audit, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Strong cross-functional communication with suppliers, customers, quality, and operations teams.
