Job Summary

The Senior Manager – Industrial Relations will be responsible for managing employee relations and industrial relations, ensuring a harmonious work environment with a large blue-collar and contractual workforce. The role involves handling unionized work environments, statutory compliance, labour relations, disciplinary processes, and liaison with government authorities. The position also oversees compliance with labour laws and social audit requirements.


Key Responsibilities :-


Industrial Relations & Employee Relations

  • Manage blue-collar and contractual workforce in a unionized plant environment.
  • Develop and implement effective IR strategies to maintain harmonious industrial relations.
  • Foster open communication and employee participation in management initiatives.
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and domestic enquiries as per company policies and labour laws.
  • Manage sensitive issues including critical terminations, misconduct cases, and internal investigations.
  • Lead wage negotiations and settlements in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Represent the organization in conciliation proceedings with the Labour Department (ALC) and litigation matters in Labour Court, Civil Court, and High Court.
  • Maintain positive relationships with union representatives, local leaders, and the surrounding community to prevent and resolve industrial disputes.
  • Coordinate and liaise with local authorities including Police Stations, Labour Commissioner Offices (State & Central), Gram Panchayat, Regional PF Office, Mathadi Board, Security Guard Board, and MPCB.
  • Drive initiatives to maintain a healthy IR environment and ensure workplace discipline.


Statutory Compliance & Labor Regulations

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary licenses, registrations, and certifications for plant operations.
  • Ensure timely renewal of licenses and maintenance of statutory registers and records.
  • Manage labour compliance audits including ADB Social Compliance, BSCI, Target, Walmart, and SEDEX audits.
  • Maintain documentation as per ISO, SA 8000, and other social/ethical audit requirements.
  • Prepare policies and documentation related to social and ethical compliance standards.
  • Manage vendor contracts and negotiate service agreements related to manpower and services.


Administration & Facility Management

  • Oversee plant administrative functions including guest house management, transport arrangements, and facility operations.
  • Supervise plant security, cafeteria services, gardening, and housekeeping.
  • Ensure hygiene and maintenance of office areas and labour colony facilities.
  • Manage office pantry, dining hall, and internal movement within and outside the plant.
  • Handle office administration and stationery management.


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Relations and Labor Laws
  • Experience handling unionized workforce and wage negotiations
  • Expertise in statutory compliance and labour audits
  • Strong stakeholder management and government liaising skills
  • Conflict resolution and grievance management
  • Payroll and HR operations management
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills


Qualification & Experience

  • Education: MBA / MSW in Human Resources / Personnel Management / Industrial Relations or equivalent.
  • Experience:10–15+ years of experience in Industrial Relations, HR operations, and statutory compliance in a Logistics industry.
