Job Description
Manager Civil Projects – (Engineering & Execution)
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager Civil Projects – (Engineering and Execution) to lead and manage all civil engineering activities for industrial infrastructure and EPC projects. The role will be responsible for reviewing and approving civil engineering deliverables prepared by outsourced engineering consultants, optimising designs for cost efficiency, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting project execution through periodic site visits.
The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in civil and structural engineering, project management capabilities, and a value-engineering mindset to identify innovative solutions that reduce project costs without compromising safety, quality, or project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Management
- Review and approve civil and structural engineering deliverables prepared by outsourced engineering consultants.
- Verify design calculations, structural analysis reports, design basis documents, and engineering specifications.
- Review and approve civil and structural drawings including:
- Plot plans
- Grading and drainage drawings
- Foundation drawings for All Structures and Equipments
- RCC and steel structure drawings
- Roads and paving drawings
- Boundary wall and infrastructure drawings
- Underground utility layouts
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian and international codes, standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process, and Project teams for interdisciplinary design integration.
Value Engineering & Cost Optimisation
- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimise civil and structural designs.
- Identify innovative engineering solutions to reduce overall project civil costs.
- Evaluate alternative construction methodologies, materials, and foundation concepts.
- Review quantities and layouts to eliminate unnecessary costs while maintaining safety and reliability.
- Support estimation and procurement teams in cost optimisation during project execution.
Project Management
- Monitor engineering progress against project schedules and milestones.
- Coordinate with engineering consultants, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and mitigation activities.
- Support project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Ensure timely closure of engineering queries, comments, and design issues.
Site Support & Execution
- Conduct periodic site visits to monitor civil construction activities.
- Provide technical guidance during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Review site issues and recommend engineering solutions.
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Support contractor management and technical evaluations when required.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with relevant safety standards and constructability requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, constructability reviews, and project risk assessments.
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities related to civil works.
- Ensure adherence to company engineering procedures and project governance requirements.
Qualifications
Education
- B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering (Mandatory)
- M.Tech in Structural Engineering / Civil Engineering (Preferred)
Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in Civil & Structural Engineering and Project Management.
- Experience in EPC, Industrial, Chemical, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, Green Hydrogen, Process Plants, or Infrastructure projects preferred.
- Experience in managing outsourced engineering consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of RCC and structural steel design.
- Expertise in reviewing structural calculations and design reports.
- Familiarity with IS Codes, NBC, ACI, AISC, Eurocodes, and other applicable standards.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as:
- STAAD Pro
- ETABS
- SAFE
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D (preferred)
- Understanding of project planning and project controls.
