About the Company
SRMB Group is establishing an in-house New Projects Management function to support its next phase of manufacturing expansion, modernization and greenfield/brownfield investments.
About the Role
The seasoned Project Manager should remain accountable for project execution—engineering, contractors, procurement coordination, construction, commissioning, schedule and cost. The Director’s Office representative should independently focus on:
- Portfolio-level monitoring across all new projects.
- Accuracy and consistency of progress reporting.
- Early identification of delays, cost overruns and unresolved decisions.
- Coordination among finance, procurement, operations, consultants and project teams.
- Tracking approvals, land, utilities, statutory clearances and management decisions.
- Preparing concise decision notes for the Director.
- Ensuring that commitments made in review meetings are actually closed.
Preferred Skills
- An ordinary executive assistant or general administration candidate would not be suitable. The position needs an engineer who can understand project execution but also communicate at Director and Board level.

Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Metallurgy.
- MBA or postgraduate qualification in project management desirable.
- Approximately 7–12 years’ experience.
- At least 4–5 years in industrial, steel, metals, manufacturing, infrastructure or EPC projects.
Required Skills
• Develop and maintain a consolidated dashboard for all greenfield, brownfield, expansion and modernization projects.
• Monitor project schedules, critical paths, capex utilization, procurement status, contractor performance and commissioning milestones.
• Review progress reports submitted by project managers, consultants, contractors and internal departments.
• Identify schedule slippages, cost variances, unresolved dependencies and emerging project risks at an early stage.
• Prepare concise review notes, exception reports, decision memoranda and presentations for the Director and Project Steering Committee.
• Track decisions and action points arising from project-review meetings and ensure timely closure by the responsible departments.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Procurement, Finance, Commercial, Operations, Legal, Land and Government Liaison teams.
• Monitor statutory approvals, land-related matters, utilities, environmental permissions and other external dependencies.
• Support evaluation of capex proposals, project feasibility reports, quotations, BOQs, contractor packages and change requests.
• Establish standard project-governance formats, review mechanisms, documentation protocols and escalation procedures.
• Conduct periodic site visits to independently verify physical progress and highlight differences between reported and actual status.
• Assist the Director in prioritizing projects, allocating resources and resolving interdepartmental bottlenecks.
Location
- Kolkata, with regular travel to project locations in West Bengal and other states.
