About The Team
The Merchandising Analysts team partners with U.S. Merchants to enable data-driven category decisions that drive sales, margin, inventory productivity, and omni-channel execution excellence. The team serves as the analytical engine supporting category strategy, product line reviews, vendor negotiations, inventory optimization, product setup governance, and cross-functional issue resolution across stores and online.
This team is a critical bridge between Merchandising, Inventory Planning, Supply Chain, Stores, Online, Finance, and Vendor partners to ensure accurate execution of product, cost, promotional, and stocking strategies.
Roles & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
Capability Build
- Develop and execute training plans to onboard team members on processes, systems, and tools.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Support transition governance(milestones/risks/resolutions), ensure stabilization of transitioned process and address any gaps.
Business Impact
- Partner with US based Merchants to align team deliverables with category priorities.
- Ensure consistent execution of vendor and item setup, promotional activities, and governance processes.
- Support/consult resolution of complex vendor or product-related issues impacting performance and timelines.
- Enable the team in delivering category insights, reporting, and analysis to support merchant decision-making.
- Guide team in proactively identify risks and opportunities across product categories.
- Ensure readiness for key business milestones such as Product Line Reviews, Vendor Forums, and strategic business reviews.
- Support development and delivery of presentations with cross-functional teams to align on key initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, ensure effective cross-functional coordination.
Operational Excellence
- Implement KPIs and performance dashboards to measure productivity, quality, and business impact.
- Manage capacity planning, workload prioritization, and stakeholder alignment with U.S. partners.
- Partner with Product, Technology & Business teams to enable teams to deliver flawless execution.
- Drive process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
Leadership
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
- Support team engagement, performance management, and career development.
- Build and environment to encourage diversity & inclusion within the team.
- Analyse feedback from BEST/engagement surveys and develop action plans to address focus areas.
Years Of Experience
- 8+ years of experience in retail / merchandising;
- 2+ years of experience in leading teams
Education Qualification & Certifications (optional)
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate/Bachelors Degree - in business, marketing, finance, statistics or related field (B.com / BBM / MBA / Retail Operations Management)
Skill Set Required
Primary Skills (must have)
- Experience in retail / merchandising
- Experience working with category management, merchants, vendors, e-commerce item lifecycle management, pricing / promotion management.
- Experience woking with global partners and leading teams with global interactions, ability to comprehend, articulate and seamlessly communicate locally and globally.
- Ability to leverage data, information and research alternatibves to solve business and execution challenges.
- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results, self-starter and self-directed
- Strong attention to detail, project and process management skills
- Ability to drive operational excellence
Secondary Skills (desired)
- Advanced Excel,SQL, Power Query, Power BI, Data visualization
