Role Summary
The Manager – Payroll will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations while also preparing, analyzing, and presenting payroll and people-related reports for internal stakeholders. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of statutory compliance, and the ability to translate payroll data into clear, actionable insights for management
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing for employees accurately and on time
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, labor laws, etc.
- Handle payroll inputs including attendance, leaves, overtime, incentives, deductions, and reimbursements
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors (if applicable)
- Address payroll-related queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently
- Support audits by maintaining accurate payroll records and documentations
Stakeholder Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare periodic payroll and workforce reports for senior management and stakeholders
- Generate MIS reports related to headcount, cost analysis, attrition, and payroll trends
- Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends, and cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of reports
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and manpower planning through payroll data insights
Process Improvement & Controls
- Assist in improving payroll processes, controls, and reporting mechanisms
- Ensure data integrity and confidentiality of employee information
- Support system enhancements and automation initiatives related to payroll and reporting
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, HR, or related field
- 12+ years of experience in payroll processing and reporting
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and labor laws
- Experience preparing management and stakeholder reports
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas); payroll systems knowledge preferred
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate complex payroll data clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong time management and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Discretion and integrity in handling confidential data
Preferred / Nice to have
- Experience with large headcount payroll
- Exposure to audits and statutory inspections
- Experience with HRIS / Payroll software (e.g. GreytHR, ADP etc.)
