As a
Margin Accounting Manager at Lumen, you will be responsible for accurate and timely accounting of margin and cost‑of‑sales activities, supporting North America operations from India. The role manages month‑end close, margin analysis, and audit support while ensuring strong SOX compliance. You will lead a team of Senior Accountants and drive process rigor and continuous improvement across margin accounting.
Location
This position has been designated as hybrid in India/ Bangalore, and involves shift timing as 3PM to 12PM IST on regular days and night shift during the monthly closing activities.
Main Responsibilities

- Lead and supervise Senior Accountants in India
- Review and approve monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations in Blackline
- Prepare and review margin and cost‑of‑sales accounting entries
- Perform monthly and quarterly margin variance analysis
- Support monthly close and quarterly reporting cycles
- Maintain SOX controls, documentation, and audit readiness
- Prepare quarterly reporting schedules and respond to auditor PBC requests
- Partner with EMEA and APAC teams for statutory and regional reporting
- Support ad‑hoc analysis, special projects, and process improvements
- Develop team training and maintain documented procedures

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience
- Master’s degree preferred with 4+ years of related experience
- Minimum 3 years of people management / supervisory experience
- Strong hands‑on experience in:
- Margin accounting
- Cost accounting
- Revenue‑cost analysis
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management and deadline discipline, especially during monthly close and quarterly reporting
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across regions and seniority levels
- Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems, including:
- SAP
- Blackline
- Business Objects
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office / O365 tools, including:
- Excel (advanced)
- PowerPoint
- Word
- Teams, Outlook
- Power BI
- Proven track record of delivering results, process improvements, and team development
