Manager - ISO & HSE

The ISO & HSE Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining ISO management systems and HSE programs in compliance with statutory and organizational requirements. The role supports internal and external audits, ensures legal compliance, promotes a safe work culture, conducts risk assessments, incident investigations, workplace monitoring, and delivers HSE training and inductions while coordinating with statutory authorities and certification bodies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and continuously monitor ISO and HSE policies, procedures, and programs in line with organizational objectives and statutory requirements.
  • Plan, conduct, and support Internal Audits for ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018, ensuring audit preparedness and timely closure of non-conformities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal and other requirements, including central and state labour laws, environmental regulations, and occupational safety standards; periodically review and communicate regulatory updates to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with statutory authorities, certification bodies, auditors, and external agencies for audits, inspections, documentation, and compliance matters related to ISO and HSE.
  • Monitor, measure, and analyze ISO & HSE performance indicators, and submit periodic compliance and performance reports to the Head of Department and Management.
  • Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Environmental Aspect–Impact Assessments, and ensure implementation and effectiveness of control measures.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free work environment across workshop and departmental premises through proactive safety practices.
  • Conduct regular workplace and environmental monitoring, including noise levels, illumination, air quality, housekeeping, and other relevant parameters.
  • Ensure availability, proper usage, inspection, and maintenance of PPE, safety devices, firefighting systems, first-aid facilities, and emergency response equipment.
  • Ensure effective incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis, CAPA implementation, and statutory reporting.
  • Plan and conduct HSE training and induction programs for employees, contractors, and visitors, and maintain accurate training and induction records.
  • Ensure employee participation and consultation in HSE activities in accordance with ISO 45001 requirements and maintain related documentation.
  • Conduct vendor and contractor HSE assessments, qualification, evaluation, and performance rating in line with company policies and ISO standards.
  • Communicate and enforce ISO & HSE requirements, procedures, and compliance expectations with vendors and contractors.
  • Support continual improvement initiatives and act as a certified Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018.
  • Ensure adherence to the Company Code of Conduct, internal processes, and occupational health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.

Skills Required

  • Proven experience in ISO Standards, Health, Safety & Quality function
  • Familiarity with customers such as Ship owners, Ship Manager, Marine customers & Defense.
  • Strong communication (written & verbal).
  • Self-driven, responsible, and proactive with a strong follow-up mindset.
  • Sense of urgency and accountability.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or health & safety or a related field
  • Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety will be added advantage
  • Extensive experience in quality, health & safety
  • Proven track record of driving quality, health & safety culture
  • Knowledge of marine and power equipment
  • At least 10-15 years related experience working in MNC related to quality, health & safety providing support for upper-level management in a related organization.
