DESCRIPTION
Role Overview
MGM Studios is seeking an experienced Originals Movie Manager to be the creative lead and operational driver for our theatrical development slate. This role requires a seasoned creative professional with a strict theatrical background, substantial studio experience, and a proven track record of leading and executing feature films independently. You will manage pitch intake, shepherd projects through development, and liaise across production, creative and studio stakeholders to ensure successful greenlights and theatrical launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end creative development for theatrical features: intake, evaluation, notes, and progression through development milestones.
- Serve as the primary creative contact with writers, directors, producers and agents; own the pitch funnel and close the loop on outcomes.
- Run and coordinate pitch presentations, narrations, talent meetings, script-readers’ notes, and internal creative reviews from scheduling through follow-up.
- Maintain and own development trackers, production roadmaps and status reports; ensure accuracy and timely updates.
- Capture detailed meeting minutes, action items and decision logs; drive follow-through and accountability.
- Shadow projects as they move into packaging, financing and production; troubleshoot creative and operational blockers.
- Scout and track creative talent (writers, directors, producers) across theatrical landscape; maintain an up-to-date talent ecosystem and potential attachment lists.
- Support senior executives with creative assessments, coverage, and recommendation memos for greenlight decisions.
- Act as a cross-functional liaison between development, production, legal, finance and distribution to align on creative strategy and deliverables.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 10 years of direct theatrical experience in feature film development, production or studio creative roles.
- Prior employment at a studio, production company, or equivalent theatrical organization is mandatory.
- Demonstrable record of having independently led and executed multiple feature films from development into production and release.
- Deep knowledge of theatrical development processes, packaging, financing, and studio decision-making.
- Exceptional story sensibility — avid reader/watcher with strong script evaluation skills.
- Excellent project management, organization and tracking systems proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable briefing senior executives and representing creative positions.
- Experience managing relationships with writers, directors, agents and producers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting or advising senior studio executives on theatrical creative strategy.
- Established relationships within the film creative and agency community.
- Familiarity with theatrical distribution considerations and festival/release strategies.
- Proven ability to mentor creative talent and lead cross-functional teams.
What You Bring
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with polished judgment and decisiveness.
- Ability to juggle multiple feature development pipelines and prioritize under tight timelines.
- Hands-on, collaborative style; credible creative voice with operational rigor.
