Role Summary
The Manager – Algorithms & Sensing Technology will serve as the technical and people leader for Goodyear’s Algorithms & Sensing Technology team in India. This role is responsible for building, mentoring, and leading a high-performing local team working on tire intelligence algorithms and sensing-enabled solutions that support global OEM, Tier-1, and fleet programs.
The role requires strong hands-on technical depth in algorithms, vehicle/tire dynamics, and embedded sensing systems, combined with the ability to execute, review, and guide engineering work rather than acting purely as a program manager. The Team Lead will work closely with global technical leaders in the US and Europe to ensure consistent engineering quality, delivery rigor, and knowledge transfer.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Act as the technical anchor for algorithm and sensing development activities executed in India.
- Review, guide, and mentor engineers working on:
- Tire/vehicle dynamics algorithms
- Signal processing, feature extraction, and model-based estimation
- Embedded and cloud-deployed algorithms
- Sensor-based inference (e.g., tire-mounted sensors, indirect sensing)
- Ensure engineering solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with production intent, not just proof-of-concept quality.
- Support system-level thinking across algorithms, sensing hardware, vehicle signals, and integration constraints.
- Team & Site Leadership
- Build and lead the India Algorithms & Sensing team, including hiring, onboarding, and capability development.
- Serve as the local people manager for engineers and technical leads.
- Establish a strong engineering culture focused on:
- Technical rigor
- Ownership and accountability
- Clear documentation and review practices
- Continuous learning and mentorship
- Act as the primary point of contact for India-site execution within the global GTIS organization.
- Program Execution & Delivery
- Work closely with global Program Managers, TPMs, and Technical Leads to:
- Break down global roadmaps into executable work packages for the India team
- Track delivery, risks, and dependencies
- Ensure alignment with milestones, quality expectations, and validation needs
- Support joint development programs with OEMs and Tier-1 partners through engineering reviews, data analysis, and technical discussions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer
- Collaborate with global teams across:
- Hardware & electronics
- Systems integration
- Quality & functional safety
- Cloud & data platforms
- Enable bidirectional knowledge transfer between India and global teams to scale best practices and avoid siloed execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Controls, or related field).
- 7–10+ years of experience in automotive or mobility-related algorithm and sensing development.
- Strong technical foundation in at least several of the following:
- Vehicle and tire dynamics
- Signal processing and feature extraction
- Model-based estimation and control
- Embedded algorithm development
- Sensor-based systems and data interpretation
- 2+ years of people leadership experience, including mentoring and performance management.
Desired
- Exposure to ADAS, AV, EV, or advanced vehicle control systems.
- Experience transitioning algorithms from research/PoC to production-grade implementation.
- Familiarity with automotive development processes (V-model, validation, ASPICE, functional safety awareness).
- Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers in joint development settings.
