Role Purpose
- To strengthen the Global Financial Governance framework by leveraging data analytics, automation, and technology-driven assurance techniques to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability of SOX testing and internal control monitoring across IHG’s global operations.
The role focuses on identifying
automation opportunities, developing analytics solutions (e.g., Alteryx), improving control testing methodologies, and supporting IT-enabled governance practices while ensuring compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
Key Accountabilities
Analytics & Automation
- Design and develop data-driven testing approaches using analytics tools such as Alteryx to enhance SOX and internal audit testing efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual control testing and reconciliation activities through workflow automation, data analytics, and system-based controls.
- Build repeatable analytics models and dashboards to support continuous monitoring of financial controls and risk indicators.
- Develop and maintain automated testing scripts and workflows that support large-scale global control testing.
SOX & Technology-enabled Assurance
- Support and perform SOX testing using technology-enabled methodologies, including analytics-based testing and system data validation.
- Evaluate system-generated reports, interfaces, and automated controls to assess their reliability and effectiveness.
- Assist in reviewing IT-enabled business processes, including data flows, system interfaces, and process automation impacts on financial controls.
Process Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
- Identify process inefficiencies and control optimization opportunities through data analysis and process diagnostics.
- Partner with finance, IT, and operations teams to implement process improvements, automation solutions, and control enhancements.
- Support the development of scalable governance frameworks that reduce manual effort and improve audit coverage.
Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with regional SOX teams, IT teams, and internal/external auditors to ensure alignment on testing methodologies and control evaluation approaches.
- Act as a technology-enabled governance advisor, recommending improvements in processes, controls, and data integrity.
Key Skills & Experiences
Education
- Qualified Accountant or Masters in Finance or a combination of education and related work experience.
Experience
- 6+ years of experience in internal audit, SOX compliance, financial governance, or consulting environments.
- Demonstrated experience in analytics-driven audit or control testing.
- Experience in identifying automation opportunities and implementing process improvements.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong experience with data analytics tools (preferably Alteryx).
- Knowledge of automation techniques and workflow optimization in governance or audit environments.
- Understanding of IT-enabled financial processes, system-generated controls, and data integrity risks.
- Familiarity with ERP environments (e.g., PeopleSoft or similar financial systems).
- Strong analytical capability to interpret large datasets and identify anomalies or control gaps.
- Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable governance improvements.
Professional Skills
- Strong stakeholder management across finance, IT, and audit teams.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and efficiency improvements within governance functions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical analytics concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
