Job Title: Manager – Financial Analytics & Commercial Intelligence/ Commercial Finance Analytics Lead
Location: Mumbai (Lower Parel)
Department: Finance Reporting to: DGM-Finance/Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
About the Role: Trilegal is seeking a highly analytical and commercially driven Financial Data Analytics professional to work directly with the CFO in building a data-led decision intelligence capability for the firm.
This is not a traditional finance, FP&A, accounting, or MIS role. The mandate is to interrogate large and complex financial and operational datasets, uncover commercial insights, improve visibility into business performance, and generate decision-driving analytics for leadership. The role requires someone who can independently build sophisticated analytical models, dashboards, and insight frameworks around billing efficiency, realization, pricing, partner economics, matter profitability, and operational productivity across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Analytics
• Analyze billing efficiency, realization rates, collection patterns, leverage ratios, utilization trends, and practice-group profitability.
• Conduct deep-dive analytics across Practice groups Partners, Clients, Matter types, Offices, Fee structures.
• Identify revenue leakage, inefficiencies, margin pressure points, and commercial optimization opportunities.
• Develop data-backed recommendations for improving profitability, pricing effectiveness, realization, and operational efficiency.
Dashboarding & Data Visualization
• Design and maintain high-impact analytical dashboards for the Management Committee, CFO & Partners.
• Build interactive visualizations and KPI intelligence systems using Power BI/Tableau or equivalent tools.
• Create automated analytical views and drill-down capabilities for leadership decision making.
• Present complex financial data in a simple, intuitive, and commercially meaningful manner. Data Engineering & Analytical Excellence
• Work with large and complex datasets from finance, billing, ERP, CRM, and operational systems.
• Improve data integrity, consistency, and analytical reliability across reporting structures.
• Drive automation and analytical sophistication in management reporting architecture.
• Build scalable analytical frameworks rather than static reports.
What We Are Looking For:
• You approach financial data with curiosity and rigor. You are energized by identifying patterns, uncovering hidden commercial insights, and translating complex datasets into strategic recommendations.
• 3-5 years of experience in financial analytics, commercial analytics, business intelligence, or data-driven strategy roles within high-performance environments.
• Experience in professional services, consulting, legal firms, investment banking, or similar high-utilization business models would be strongly preferred.
• Education: CA / MBA / CFA / Engineering / Statistics / Economics / Data Analytics background from reputed institutions.
Technical Skills
• Advanced expertise in: o Power BI / Tableau o Advanced Excel & Power Query o SQL o Data modelling & visualization
• Working knowledge of Python/R for analytics and automation would be preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial finance metrics and profitability analytics.
• Ability to independently work with large raw datasets and convert them into leadership ready analytical outputs is essential. Why This Role Matters
