About the Role
As Manager – Data Engineering, you will lead a team of data engineers to design, build, and optimize enterprise-scale data platforms. You will own the data lake architecture, oversee ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensure compliance with governance and security standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovation in cloud-based data engineering solutions
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers
- Own and maintain data lake architecture and pipelines.
- Design and implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows
- Oversee ETL/ELT processes across enterprise systems (SAP, Salesforce, etc.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and IT to deliver analytics-ready data models
- Drive best practices in CI/CD, automation, and performance optimization
- Manage cloud infrastructure usage and cost optimization
- Oversee data quality frameworks and modernization initiatives
- Enable AI/ML-ready data architecture for advanced analytics
- Support data strategy and roadmap development with the Head of Data & Analytica
Qualifications
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
- 7–12 years of experience in Data Engineering, with 3–5 years in leadership
- Expertise in one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Strong skills in SQL, Python, PySpark, and Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
- Experience in data modelling (Star, Snowflake), metadata management, and ERP systems (SAP).
- Knowledge of Power BI backend structures, governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead distributed teams and manage budgets.
- Exposure to AI/ML frameworks and cloud-native AI services.
Preferred:
- Certifications (Azure DP‑203 / AWS Data Analytics Specialty / GCP Professional Data Engineer).
- Experience in large-scale, global data environments.
- Familiarity with streaming tools (Kafka, Event Hubs).
- Prior experience in manufacturing or engineering organizations.
