Role Description The Manager, CAT Modelling role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Noida, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the schedule. This role oversees catastrophe modelling projects, coordinates model execution, and ensures the quality and timeliness of deliverables for internal teams and insurance clients. Responsibilities include managing a team of analysts, setting priorities, reviewing model assumptions and outputs, and providing insights on risk, exposure, and portfolio performance. The manager collaborates with underwriting, actuarial, and exposure management teams, supports model selection and parameterization, and contributes to process improvement and automation initiatives. The role also involves mentoring team members, documenting methodologies, and communicating complex findings in clear, actionable terms for stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong catastrophe modelling and exposure management skills, with experience using industry CAT models (e.g., RMS, AIR, or similar) and working with insurance portfolios.
- Proficiency in data analysis and analytics tools, such as SQL, Excel, and at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, R, or VBA) for data processing and automation.
- Solid understanding of insurance and reinsurance concepts, including underwriting workflows, actuarial principles, and risk assessment for property and specialty lines.
- Demonstrated people management and leadership abilities, including team supervision, performance coaching, workload planning, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex quantitative results for non-technical audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Relevant academic background, such as a degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, data science, finance, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Prior experience in an insurance or reinsurance environment, particularly in CAT modelling or risk analytics, and familiarity with global regulatory and reporting requirements is an advantage.
