Position: Manager - Business Development (Rail Business)
Role & Responsibility
Drive business growth and market expansion in the Indian Rail & Metro sector by selling TV SDs testing, inspection, certification (TIC), Independent Safety Assessment (ISA), and advisory services across Indian railway projects.
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in:
- Metro rail projects (DMRC, BMRCL, MMRDA, etc.)
- Indian Railways / Dedicated Freight Corridors
- Rolling stock OEMs (Alstom, BEML, Siemens, etc.)
- EPC contractors and system integrators
- Promote TV SD services such as:
- Independent Safety Assessment (ISA)
- Rolling stock & component certification
- Signalling and CBTC safety assessment
- RAMS & functional safety services
- Achieve sales targets, revenue growth, and order intake
Key Account Management
Build and maintain relationships with:
Metro corporations and rail authorities (RDSO, PUs, Zonal Railways)
OEMS, consultants, and EPCs.
Act as single point of contact for strategic clients
Identify cross-selling opportunities across services
Tendering & Proposal Management
Track and evaluate:
Government & private sector tenders
Metro/rail project RFPs (ISA, Certification, Testing)
Prepare:
Techno-commercial proposals
Pre-qualification documents (EOI, RFQ, RFP)
Coordinate internally with: Track and evaluate:
Government & private sector tenders
Metro/rail project RFPs (ISA, Certification, Testing)
Prepare:
Techno-commercial proposals
Pre-qualification documents (EOI, RFQ, RFP)
Coordinate internally with:
Engineering / safety / certification teams
Legal and finance teams for contract finalization
Market Intelligence & Strategy
Monitor:
Rail project pipeline (metro, high-speed rail, DFCC)
New TIC opportunities in Rail Industry
Provide market inputs for:
Pricing strategy
Go-to-market approach
Service positioning
Client Engagement & Technical Selling
Understand client requirements related to:
Safety and Security certification (EN standards, CENELEC, IECs)
Project lifecycle demonstration
Translate technical services into commercial value propositions
Conduct:
Client meetings, presentations, workshops
Technical-commercial negotiations
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Understanding
Basic knowledge of:
Rail systems (signalling, rolling stock, infrastructure)
Rail Safety and Security standards (EN 50126/28/29, IEC 62443/TS 50701)
ISA, RAMS, certification processes
Sales & Commercial: Strong B2B sales experience (preferably in infrastructure/rail)
Experience in: Government tenders and large EPC contracts
Soft Skills
Stakeholder management
Negotiation & presentation skills
Strategic thinking
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in:
Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical )
MBA (Marketing / Business Development preferred)
Experience:
5–15 years for Manager level
Experience in Rail / Metro/ Infrastructure / TIC industry
