Role Overview
We are looking for a Manager, Brand, Community & Growth to work closely with the leadership on a single question: why should a rural family, a doctor or a whole village trust Karma?
This is not a campaigns, content or social media role. Assisted telemedicine in rural India is a category that barely exists — nobody wakes up asking for it. Demand here is not captured, it is created, and it is created through trust that compounds slowly: consistent clinical quality, a doctor who actually answers, a centre that feels like it belongs to the community, and a story that people repeat to their neighbours.
You will own positioning, reputation and the patient experience that produces both — and only then, the engine that converts that trust into footfall, diagnostics and pharmacy utilisation. The role is roughly 50% brand and reputation, 25% patient experience, and 25% growth. You will spend real time at centres, not only in Hyderabad.
Key Responsibilities.
Positioning & Category Creation (Primary Focus)
· Own Karma’s positioning, narrative and brand architecture across its three audiences: patients, the communities around each centre, and the doctors who serve them.
· Build the case for why assisted telemedicine is credible primary care — in the language rural families actually use, not marketing language.
· Generate first-hand consumer insight through field immersion: what rural patients believe about doctors, cost, diagnostics, and where they go today.
· Establish Karma’s public voice through patient outcome storytelling, thought leadership and media presence, so that Karma becomes the reference name in rural primary care.
· Build the trust assets that make belief possible: patient stories, clinical outcome evidence, doctor credentials, and transparency on pricing.
Patient Experience
· Treat accumulated patient experience as Karma’s primary brand asset, and own how it is measured, reported and improved.
· Design and run the patient feedback system — NPS, post-visit follow-up, complaint resolution — and report it to leadership on a fixed cadence.
· Map the end-to-end patient journey from first awareness to repeat visit, and identify the moments that break trust.
· Work with clinical and operations teams on service consistency, wait times, doctor availability and diagnostic turnaround, on the basis that these are marketing problems.
· Own reviews, testimonials, word-of-mouth and local reputation at individual centre level.
Community Trust
· Build durable relationships with panchayats, ASHA and ANM workers, schools, self-help groups, and local community and faith leaders.
· Design community engagement — health camps, awareness programmes, screening drives — that builds belief rather than one-off footfall.
· Build local partnership channels that bring patients through the door — employers, schools, chemists, local retailers, and government health scheme linkages where they apply.
· Support doctor and clinical talent attraction through employer brand and professional community presence.
Demand Generation
· Convert trust into utilisation at Karma’s own centres: footfall, diagnostics uptake, pharmacy revenue and repeat visits.
· Build the referral engine — patient-to-patient, ASHA-led and community referral — with clear incentives and tracking.
· Run local activation and WhatsApp/CRM-led recall and retention programmes, including follow-ups, chronic care adherence and seasonal health drives.
· Set up marketing analytics that matter: acquisition source, cost per new patient, repeat rate, and centre-level marketing ROI.
· Run structured experiments at a small set of centres, measure honestly, and turn what works into a repeatable playbook for every new centre.
Team and Budget:
· Own the marketing budget and demonstrate return at centre level.
· Manage agencies, creative partners and field vendors, and build a small team as the function grows.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
· MBA or Master’s in Marketing, Communications, Public Health or Social Sciences preferred but not mandatory.
Experience:
· 5–8 years in brand, marketing or growth roles, including meaningful ownership of positioning or brand strategy rather than execution alone.
· Demonstrated experience building trust or category belief for a service customers did not already know they needed — healthcare, financial services, education, agri or consumer services.
· Direct experience with rural, tier-3 or low-literacy audiences in North India strongly preferred. Comfort spending days in the field is non-negotiable.
· Has owned a business metric — revenue, footfall, retention or utilisation — not only campaign metrics.
· Healthcare experience is useful, not mandatory. Purely agency-side, purely content or purely performance-marketing backgrounds are unlikely to fit.
Core Competencies:
· Can articulate a point of view on positioning and defend it with evidence rather than aesthetics.
· Generates original consumer insight from direct field contact, not secondary research.
· Treats service quality and patient experience as marketing’s responsibility, not someone else’s.
· Numerate — can build and defend a simple funnel, cost-per-patient and marketing ROI model.
· Comfortable with ambiguity and building a function from first principles. This is a build role, not an inherit role.
· High ownership, low ego, and willing to sit in a village centre and talk to patients.
· Fluency in Hindi alongside English is essential; an additional regional language from Karma’s operating geography is a plus.
What we Offer:
· Opportunity to play a critical role in transforming healthcare access for underserved communities across India.
· Direct exposure to the leadership team with opportunities to influence key financial decisions.
· Competitive compensation.
· Hybrid work model (3-days’ Work from Office).
· Continuous learning, professional development, and meaningful career growth.
