Responsibilities
- Lead the complete hydro-mechanical scope covering design review, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Manage major H&M equipment such as penstocks and bifurcations, gates, valves, hoists, cranes, and hydraulic systems.
- Review technical designs, specifications, vendor drawings, and quality plans.
- Track project milestones, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee procurement processes, including vendor evaluation, tendering, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Supervise site works including fabrication, welding, erection, alignment, and hydraulic testing.
- Coordinate with civil and electromechanical teams for integrated project execution including during embedded part installations.
- Ensure adherence to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor and guide site teams to achieve technical excellence.
- Ensure all designs comply with international standards (e.g., ASME, BS, IS codes) and contractual requirements.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and welding standards (AWS, IS, BS).
- Plan and execute pre-commissioning, functional tests, and load trials of gates, valves, and hydraulic systems with necessary test as per Standards and contractual requirements.
- Implement mitigation strategies to avoid cost overruns and schedule slippage.
- Participate in progress review meetings and prepare technical and progress reports.
- Represent the H&M discipline in design reviews, audits, and inspections.
Qualifications
- B.E./ B.Tech in Mechanical engineering.
- 12+ years of experience.
- Must have experience in Hydro/PSP projects.
