Position Overview
We at HR Interface Recruitment Consulting are hiring a Sales Manager for one of India’s leading contemporary art galleries based in Mumbai & Delhi. This is a highly relationship-driven client engagement and sales management role focused on strengthening collector relationships, driving artwork sales, supporting commercial growth, and ensuring exceptional client experiences across the gallery ecosystem.
The incumbent will work closely with gallery leadership, artists, curatorial teams, operations, finance, and collectors to help drive sales conversations, manage client engagement, oversee sales coordination, and strengthen the gallery’s long-term commercial relationships within the Mumbai & Delhi art ecosystems.
This role is ideal for polished, culturally aware, commercially mature professionals who are comfortable engaging sophisticated clientele while operating in a high-touch, detail-oriented, relationship-led environment.
We are specifically looking for candidates who combine strong sales discipline and client servicing capabilities with a genuine appreciation for contemporary art.

Role & Responsibilities
🤝 Collector Relationship Management & Client Engagement
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with collectors, patrons, prospective buyers, and high-value clientele.
- Independently manage a portfolio of existing and prospective collector relationships.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding exhibitions, available works, artist updates, private previews, and gallery programming.
- Understand client preferences, collecting interests, engagement history, and purchase cycles.
- Deliver highly personalized and sophisticated client servicing experiences.
🎨 Artwork Sales & Commercial Growth
- Support and drive end-to-end artwork sales cycles including presentations, proposals, negotiations, and deal closures.
- Actively follow up on sales opportunities, client conversations, and artwork inquiries.
- Strengthen the gallery’s sales pipeline through relationship-led engagement and consistent follow-through.
- Collaborate with gallery leadership to achieve regional sales and revenue goals.
- Assist in preparing sales support materials including price lists, catalogues, viewing decks, artist dossiers, and presentation material.
đź–Ľ Exhibition Support, Viewings & Gallery Events
- Represent the gallery professionally during previews, exhibitions, private viewings, collector meetings, and cultural events.
- Host collectors and visitors with professionalism, warmth, and strong cultural sensitivity.
- Support client walkthroughs, artwork presentations, and sales conversations during exhibitions and events.
- Assist in strengthening the gallery’s visibility and outreach within Mumbai’s art and luxury ecosystem.
📊 Sales Operations, Documentation & Coordination
- Coordinate closely with finance and operations teams to ensure timely invoicing, documentation, contracts, delivery coordination, and sales closures.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, collector interactions, pipelines, and reporting dashboards.
- Ensure compliance with gallery documentation processes and operational standards.
- Support smooth execution of artwork movement, viewings, and delivery processes.
🌍 Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with curatorial, logistics, marketing, artist relations, and finance teams.
- Coordinate internally to ensure seamless collector experiences and sales execution.
- Escalate operational or client concerns proactively to gallery leadership.
- Support broader gallery initiatives, programming, and relationship-building activities.

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Art History, Arts Management, Luxury Management, Communication, or related fields.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in sales, business development, luxury client servicing, relationship management, hospitality, lifestyle, premium retail, or art ecosystems.
- Prior exposure to art galleries, luxury brands, auction houses, hospitality, design, collectibles, or premium relationship-driven industries will be highly preferred.
- Strong communication skills with confidence engaging sophisticated and high-value clientele.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships and follow-ups simultaneously.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate in a high-touch client-facing environment.
- Professionalism, maturity, discretion, and cultural sensitivity are critical for this role.
- A genuine interest in contemporary art, artists, exhibitions, and cultural ecosystems is highly preferred.
