Role Summary
The Engineering Manager / AI Delivery Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for owning end-to-end delivery of AI-driven initiatives within Lumen's FinTech organization. Based in India, this leader will build, manage, and mentor a team of 5–10 engineers, translating complex business problems into actionable technical blueprints and prioritized delivery plans. The role demands a strong blend of technical depth and people leadership, operating in a fast-paced, cross-regional environment with stakeholders spanning India and North America. The ideal candidate thrives on driving clarity from ambiguity, establishing engineering standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring that AI-powered solutions are delivered on time, at scale, and with enterprise-grade quality.
Responsibilities
- Own delivery of AI-driven initiatives end-to-end, from planning through execution to production deployment.
- Translate business problems into technical blueprints, prioritized backlogs, and actionable delivery plans.
- Provide technical oversight for architecture, security, scalability, and reliability of all team deliverables.
- Build, coach, and mentor a team of engineers at varying experience levels, fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Partner with stakeholders across finance, IT, security, and leadership functions in both India and North America.
- Drive Agile delivery practices, sprint execution, and continuous improvement across the team.
- Manage capacity planning, resource allocation, and release management to ensure timely and predictable delivery.
- Ensure strong alignment between technical execution and business outcomes, reporting progress and risks to leadership.
- Establish and enforce team standards for code quality, documentation, testing, observability, and security.
- Coordinate effectively across time zones to maintain seamless communication, collaboration, and delivery cadence.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI engineering roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading technical teams of 5–10 engineers.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML systems, agent-based architecture, and modern AI development patterns.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with modern data platforms, APIs, system integration, and enterprise data architecture.
- Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, or AutoGen.
- Familiarity with MCP servers and secure AI tool integration patterns.
- Strong communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven experience working in cross-regional or globally distributed teams.
Preferred
- Experience scaling AI solutions in regulated or enterprise environments.
- Vendor management and technical blueprint ownership experience.
- Background in Finance, FinTech, or enterprise shared services organizations.
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines through Git repositories.
- Proficiency with Agile/Scrum methodologies and delivery tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).
- Experience with organizational change management related to technology adoption.
