Role Description
Product Owner – Accounting Information Systems (AIS) Project
Job Summary
The Product Owner (PO) provides industry and strategic guidance for the AIS project and ensures that sprint deliverables align with real-world accounting and information systems practices. The PO reviews project outputs such as process documentation, fraud risk assessments, internal control designs, database models, and implementation plans. The role ensures that teams translate accounting processes and data analysis into practical system improvements. The Product Owner also brings extensive experience working with Australian clients and enterprise tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate sprint deliverables across process documentation, fraud risk analysis, internal controls, REA modeling, and implementation planning.
- Ensure diagrams and documentation such as BPDs, Flowcharts, and DFDs accurately represent organisational processes.
- Evaluate fraud risks, data quality assessments, and control frameworks.
- Review database design, REA models, and SQL queries developed by teams.
- Assess transaction cycle analysis and recommended controls.
- Provide feedback on AIS implementation plans and system improvement recommendations.
- Bring industry insights based on experience working with Australian organisations and accounting systems.
Required Experience
- 18+ years of professional experience in Accounting Information Systems, Finance Systems, Audit, or Enterprise Systems.
- Experience working with Australian clients or accounting environments.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, internal controls, and AIS frameworks.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing business or systems projects.
