Role Overview
The Manager – Technical Services will lead the technical function of the manufacturing unit,
ensuring smooth and efficient plant operations by providing expertise in process engineering,
troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and technology transfer. The role demands strong
leadership, deep technical knowledge of chemical processes, and the ability to optimize
productivity, safety, and cost efficiency while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Plant Operations
Provide expert technical guidance to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient plant
operations.
Troubleshoot complex plant and process issues to minimize downtime.
Support maintenance and production teams in addressing recurring technical
challenges.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Drive yield improvement, energy efficiency, and waste reduction initiatives.
Implement advanced process control systems, automation, and digital tools for
efficiency.
Benchmark and implement best practices from the industry.
Compliance, Safety & Quality
Ensure strict compliance with statutory, environmental, and safety regulations (GMP,
ISO, OSHA, REACH, etc.).
Support internal, external, and statutory audits.
Establish and enforce SOPs and risk assessments for technical operations.
New Product & Technology Support
Partner with R&D for new product scale-up, process validation, and
commercialization.
Lead technology transfer from pilot scale to full-scale production.
Support customers with product application knowledge when needed.
Leadership & Team Development
Build and lead a strong technical services team (engineers, process experts, analysts).
Mentor and develop technical talent through training and knowledge-sharing.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and safety.
Cost & Performance Management
Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
Monitor key plant performance metrics (yield, energy consumption, utilities,
downtime).
Ensure optimal utilization of raw materials and utilities.
Cross-functional & Customer Interface
Act as a technical bridge between Production, Maintenance, R&D, Quality, and
Management.
Collaborate with procurement and supply chain for vendor technical evaluation.
Provide customer-facing technical presentations and solutions where required.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong process engineering and chemical plant troubleshooting expertise.
In-depth knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, utilities, and equipment.
Familiarity with EHS norms, regulatory compliance, and global quality standards.
Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
Strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving ability.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: B.Tech / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering (Ph.D. preferred but optional).
Experience: 10–15 years in chemical / specialty chemicals / petrochemicals with at
least 5–7 years in a senior technical leadership role.
Proven track record in process optimization, technology transfer, and technical
leadership.

Yield improvement and cost savings achieved.
Compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental norms.
Successful process improvements and technology adoptions.
