We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Manager for our Patent Drafting & Prosecution Practice to lead our growing patent drafting and prosecution team while actively contributing to the expansion of our patent practice.
Key Responsibilities
Patent Drafting & Prosecution
- Draft high-quality patent specifications for inventions in software, computer science, electronics, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, semiconductor, embedded systems, networking, cloud computing, and related technologies.
- Prepare patent applications and office action responses for filing before the USPTO, Indian Patent Office, UK, and the European Patent Office.
- Conduct inventor interviews and understand technical innovations for preparing strong patent applications.
- Develop claim strategies to maximize patent protection while aligning with clients' commercial objectives.
- Review patent applications and prosecution documents prepared by junior associates.
- Ensure drafting quality, consistency, and adherence to jurisdiction-specific patent practices.
Practice Management
- Manage the Patent Drafting & Prosecution Practice and oversee project execution.
- Allocate work, monitor timelines, and ensure timely delivery of client assignments.
- Mentor, train, and technically guide junior patent professionals.
- Establish and continuously improve drafting templates, prosecution workflows, and quality control processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drafting quality and operational efficiency.
Business Development
- Play an active role in expanding the Patent Drafting & Prosecution Practice.
- Build and maintain relationships with domestic and international clients, law firms, and foreign associates.
- Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and proposal presentations.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling patent drafting, prosecution, patentability searches, FTO studies, claim chart preparation, and portfolio management services.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals for prospective clients.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, webinars, conferences, networking events, and thought leadership activities.
- Support the leadership team in achieving annual revenue and growth targets for the practice.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines:
Computer Science Engineering
Information Technology
Electronics & Communication Engineering
Electronics Engineering
Telecommunications Engineering
or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Registered Indian Patent Agent (Mandatory).
- 6–10 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution.
- Prior experience with an IP law firm, patent service firm, or IP consulting organization is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Extensive experience in drafting patent specifications.
- Strong expertise in responding to Office Actions before the USPTO, Indian Patent Office, and European Patent Office.
- Excellent understanding of patent laws and prosecution procedures in India, the US, and Europe.
- Ability to understand complex technologies and convert them into strong patent applications.
- Excellent claim drafting and amendment skills.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted drafting tools while maintaining professional quality standards.
- Excellent legal writing and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in handling international patent portfolios.
- Exposure to Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications.
- Experience with invention harvesting and inventor interviews.
- Team management and mentoring experience.
- Exposure to patent analytics, patentability searches, FTO opinions, or claim chart preparation would be an advantage.
- Experience working with foreign associates and international clients.

Experience: 6–10 Years
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech (Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Electronics, Telecommunications or equivalent) with Registered Indian Patent Agent qualification.
Preferred Industry: IP Law Firms, Patent Service Firms, IP Consulting Firms, Technology Companies with in-house IP teams.
