About the Company
Manager – Control Tower (Mid-Mile / Warehouse-to-POD)
Function: Supply Chain / Operations
Location: Bengaluru
Reports To: GM – Central Ops
About the Role
This role owns real-time visibility and control over the mid-mile network — the movement of inventory from Warehouses/DCs to PODs (dark stores). The Manager – Control Tower will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are dispatched on time, trips are tracked end-to-end, and any delays or breakdowns in the warehouse-to-POD pipeline are detected and resolved in real time, keeping POD replenishment and stock availability on track.
Responsibilities
Mid-Mile Monitoring & Control
- Monitor real-time status of all warehouse-to-POD trips — dispatch adherence, vehicle transit time, delays, and delivery-at-POD confirmation.
- Track vehicle placement vs. plan (indent vs. actual) and flag shortages or no-shows to Mid-mile team.
- Maintain live visibility of trip exceptions — breakdowns, route delays, traffic disruptions, POD unloading delays — and drive fast resolution.
- Ensure adherence to trip schedules (first-mile dispatch from WH, mid-mile transit, last-leg arrival at POD) as per defined TAT.
Vendor & Vehicle Management
- Coordinate with mid mile team for vehicle availability, indent fulfillment, and replacement of breakdown vehicles.
- Track vehicle utilization, turnaround time (TAT), and idle time; flag underperformance to vendor management team.
- Escalate vendor SLA breaches (vehicle non-placement, delays, driver issues) and coordinate resolution.
Exception & Incident Management
- Act as the single point of contact during live mid-mile disruptions (vehicle breakdown, accident, route block, WH dispatch delay, POD receiving issue).
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Warehouse Ops, POD Ops, Transport, and Tech teams to resolve issues and minimize stock-out risk at PODs.
- Drive root-cause analysis on recurring delays (specific routes, vendors, time slots) and work with stakeholders on fixes.
Reporting & Process
- Maintain and publish real-time/daily dashboards on trip adherence, fill rate, vehicle TAT, and delay reasons.
- Build/refine alerting thresholds and control tower SOPs in partnership with Tech/Data teams.
- Prepare RCA reports and present delay/exception trends to leadership.
- Support planning for peak demand (festivals, promotions) with proactive vehicle capacity checks.
Team Management
- Manage a team of control tower analysts/executives; ensure shift coverage for 24x7 or extended-hours monitoring as required.
- Train team on escalation matrices, SOPs, and vendor coordination protocols.
Qualifications
- 3–6 years in mid-mile/inbound logistics, transportation control tower, supply chain, or fleet operations — quick commerce, retail, or FMCG distribution background preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of vehicle indenting, route planning, TAT tracking, and Team management.
- Hands-on with dashboards, Excel/SQL for real-time data monitoring.
- Ability to manage high-pressure, time-sensitive escalations across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong coordination skills with warehouse ops, transport vendors, and POD teams.
- Experience managing a team and running shift-based operations preferred.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including weekends/festivals as per business need.
- Entrepreneurs and individual with high ownership are preferred.
