Role Purpose
The role is responsible for building and institutionalising an organisation-wide AI and digital ecosystem that enhances programme delivery, operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and organisational learning across Plan India.
The position will guide the responsible adoption of AI and digital technologies across functions (Programme, MEAL, HR, Finance, Procurement, Safeguarding and Administration), ensuring ethical use, data protection, scalability, and real-world impact within a development sector context.
Key Responsibilities
1. AI & Digital Strategy
• Develop and execute an AI and digital transformation roadmap aligned to Plan India’s strategy.
• Identify high-impact AI use cases (automation, analytics, knowledge management, monitoring, donor reporting).
• Build internal frameworks for responsible and ethical AI use, aligned to safeguarding and data protection principles.
2. Enterprise AI Enablement
• Enable adoption of AI tools (generative AI, analytics, automation tools) across business functions.
• Create standards, guardrails, and usage guidelines for AI tools.
• Support pilots and scaling of AI solutions in programmes and operations.
3. Data, Platforms & Systems
• Strengthen integration between MIS, ERP, HRIS, Finance and programme systems.
• Ensure data readiness for AI (data quality, access controls, metadata).
• Oversee Microsoft 365, collaboration platforms and cloud-based tools as digital foundations for AI adoption.
4. Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Responsible AI
• Ensure compliance with India’s DPDP Act and donor data protection requirements.
• Operationalise cybersecurity, access controls, backups and incident response.
• Embed child safeguarding, bias mitigation and explainability into AI-enabled systems.
5. Change Management & Capacity Building
• Build AI and digital literacy across staff through training and enablement.
• Support leadership and teams to transition from manual to AI-assisted workflows.
• Act as an internal advisor on digital and AI-related decisions.
6. Vendor & Ecosystem Management
• Engage with AI, digital and analytics vendors, consultants and platform partners.
• Review proposals, manage contracts, and assess value-for-money.
• Build partnerships similar to development-sector digital leaders (UNICEF, Digital Green, etc.).
Education & Experience
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Information Systems or related field.
• 8–12 years of experience in digital transformation, data or AI-enabled roles.
• Hands-on exposure to AI tools, analytics platforms or automation solutions.
• Experience in development sector, social impact organisations, or mission-driven enterprises preferred.
